But yet, none of you have said what the song truly means. If you were to research about System of a Down, you would know. Before System of a Down formed, Serj Tankian had his own band and so did Daron Malakian. They met in a recording studio and began playing together. They later picked up a drummer (Not John Dolmayan) and a Bassist. (Not Shavo Odadjian) They were called Soil. After a gig, the drummer and the bassist thought Soil was going nowhere, so they quit. Serj and Daron stayed together though. They later picked up Shavo as their Band Manager, then picked up a drummer, John Dolmayan. Shavo later became their bassist. They decided to name themselves System of a Down after Daron's poem entitled "Victims of the Down." They chose System because they believed it addressed a wider audience and because they also wanted to be closer (Alphabetically) to their current idol band "Slayer." After a year, System of a Down became substantially larger. At the same time, believed to be associated with his anger and frustration, Soil's previous bassist committed suicide via shooting himself in the head, hints the song's name, "Soil" and "Blew of his own mother f--king head." Also hints "Friends for years, images in red." System has been very quiet when it comes to the meaning of this song, although this is the most probable meaning of Soil, based on clues."
