I met a boy wearing Vans, 501s, and a
Dope Beastie t, nipple rings, and
New tattoos that claimed that he
Was OGT,
From '92,
The first EP.
And in between
Sips of Coke
He told me that
He thought
We were sellin' out,
Layin' down,
Suckin' up
To the man.
Well now I've got some
A-dvice for you, little buddy.
Before you point the finger
You should know that
I'm the man,
And if I'm the man,
Then you're the man, and
He's the man as well so you can
Point that fuckin' finger up your ass.
All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.
I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip shit,
And you bought one.
So I've got some
Advice for you, little buddy.
Before you point your finger
You should know that
I'm the man,
If I'm the fuckin' man
Then you're the fuckin' man as well
So you can
Point that fuckin' finger up your ass.
All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.
I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip shit,
And you bought one.
All you read and
Wear or see and
Hear on TV
Is a product
Begging for your
Fatass dirty
Dollar
So, shut up and
Buy my new record
Send more money
Fuck you, buddy.

And when he says "advice" with stress on the AD, he's speaking of advertising and marketing.
They're making music for the band...not for you. If you like it, great...but don't you dare tell these guys what to do because your ideas suck anyway.
I think we can apply this message to other aspects of the world than the capitalist system. This represents the essence of Maynard's message saying , we all have our flaws, don't be a fuckin' hypocrite and admit that you are a inperfect person as well. The world would be a much more peaceful place if more people thaught this way.
Isn't that the damn point! Make music = make money. Also, what the heck is so bad about one of your favorite bands gaining a broader audience? It just means they will be around longer. I can't stand kids who have no common sense, who don't even understand what the hell they are talking about, and use these moron phrases simply because it makes them seem 'in the know' or knowledgeable about something. In fact, it doesn't and the next little douche-bag who says it is going to get an earful and maybe a punch in the face.
Good song, Tool.
Point #2- I think its funny that so many people want to say that they "know" The true meaning of any of these songs, when they the whole reason Tool doesn't print their lyrics in the albums is so that people are free to interpret the lyrics as they see fit.
Point #3- I always thought the "Hooker with a Penis" was the boy in the song. Has no one ever heard of a male prostitute!!
This kid has the audacity to tell Maynard that Tool is "selling out and sucking up to the man" for making a major-label record, even though he's wearing brand name clothes, drinking Coke, and getting tattoos of products. And Maynard is calling him out on his hypocrisy and telling him that unless he's willing to throw away his clothes and get rid of his tattoos, he can just shut his fucking mouth.
