Lyrics for Hush as interpreted by Jack

Hush Lyrics
Fuck you

I can't say what I want to
Even if I'm not serious
I can't say what I want to
Even if I'm not serious
Things like..
"Fuck yourself
Go fuck yourself
You piece of shit why don't you just
go and kill yourself"

Just sayin
I can't say what I want to
Even if I'm not serious
Even if I'm just kiddding

People tell me what to say
What to think and what to play
I said
People tell me what to say
What to think and what to play

I said
"Fuck yourself
Go fuck yourself
You piece of shit why don't you just
go and kill yourself"
I can't say what I want to
Even if I'm not serious
Even if I'm just kiddding

Fuck yourself
Fuck yourself
you piece of shit
why don't you go fuck yourself?

People tell me what to say
What to think and what to play
People tell me what to say
What to think and what to play

Just kidding
Just kidding
Just kidding

It's great! I don't know what else to say. Sounds like frustration at record companies and countless other organizations/individual saying, "you can't say that" or "that can't go on the album."

Ironically enough, they got this on an album (although Opiate was barely an album, and their first at that).

Makes me think of people blaming violence on music...you get accusations like "Marilyn Manson is responsible for the Columbine incident."

this is thought to be about blackmail, but it is actually about media censorship.

how could you call opaite "hardly an album". it was a good album, and personally i think has better songs on it than undertow. except sober of course.

I think he means that it wa barely an album because it was 6 songs, 2 of which were just live recordings. Good stuff, doesn't really qualify as "Full Length".

This song is terrific. It's a perfect example of Maynards complete disregard for authority and his sarcasm to stupid people who think that everyone is an easily-influenced lump of crap that can't think for themselves. Hmm, maybe they're right...

If you've seen the video, it's obvious - Maynard and the gang are against the whole "Parental Advisory" thing.

"I can't say what I want to / even if I'm not serious..."

i got the impression that this song is about being too scared to speak your mind. people are pushing you around but you are too afraid of the consequences to tell them to fuck off.

i got the same impression as noarm, like you could be mad at somebody but maybe dont want to hurt their feelings or face the consequences that come with telling somebody to go fuck themselves :D

This song is just about how maynard is fed up with censors because they think what he says is very offensive when he really might not be serious...but whats the video have in it?

i think that this song is about tool being anoyed with the 'gods of censorship' hence the lyrics "i cant say what i want to" and the video where there just stood there with parental advisory signs instead of clothes.

The video for this song is the only one they've made that actually had the band members in it. You see glimpses of them in a couple videos(Sober and Prison Sex I think). I think it's so cool that they appeal to like millions of people, and most people don't even know what they look like.

I like this song cause it protests one of the things that has always pissed me off about the press. People are all so paranoid that what kids are exposed to, thinking it's what si making kids violent. Maynard is basically saying "F*ck you guys if you think you're gonna make me change how I do things cause you can't let the blame fall on the idiot who did the dumb deed to begin with where it belongs."

i agree with slightly. I always thought this song was about censorship. I think this is maynard's way of saying that although the media might not want him to say certain things, he's the artist and he can say what he wants.

i agree with Pushit117.. the song seems like theyre trying to force him what to do. and that people take the lyrics too seriously.. and try to force their ways onto him, so he's kinda giving a big f*ck you to them, he'll do what he wants.
