    There was a small room, in the back of the old house, tucked under the back stairs, where he spent many lonely hours. It was in this room that most of the songs on Mellon Collie, including Beautiful, were written(or at least those parts he didn't hear in a dream)

    and, yes ... she was beautiful. and still is.

    General Comment:this is the first time i listen to this song and i have to say that im about to cry.... its such a true honest song, and even thought its great i feel helpless and powerless when i hear because this song is like the story of my life right now... im so in loved with this girl from my english class, we are great friends, she likes me and i like her,the problem is that she is 16 and im 14, and she is not interested in me... i havent told her yet because im afraid that if i do so she will not be my friend anymore, and i think i might have a chance or maybe not, i dont know what to do i mean i think is the age difference what makes it hard but still... what do you think, will it work or not? will it turn out good or my whole world will be scorched out because of her? anyway im getting of topic... great song great band great album SP FOREVER

    My Interpretation:when i was pregnant with our first baby, my husband & i listened to this song over & over. it became "our song" while waiting to meet our son and after his arrival into the world.
    it speaks of wondering what kind of person he'll turn out to be and then reassuring this little bundle that we (his parents) will always be here for him, no matter what.
    it's a beautiful song...always makes me feel nostalgic and happy....dreamy...

    General Comment:There is a recurring theme in Billy's songwriting. He writes alot about being in love with someone very much, but for whatever reason you cannnot truely be together. I have noticed that in almost every single song he writes about love. It is very true about love- most of the time there is always something that comes in between two people. Billy has a way of getting that across in such a beautiful way. Love with a touch of darkness. Magic.

    General Comment:For me, this song is perfect for the day i had my daughter. She truly was the most beautiful thing to me...
    I listen to it now, 2 and a half years on, and it still strikes the same chords and takes me back to those first few hours when i just sat and stared at her, feeling a love like no other.
    That is what this song is to me...
