This song was played at my youth group and for the Christians out there, I think it realli relates to God, a lot, it's a great song, I love it!!

this is alot about god but can mean other things i could be about someone or memory from long ago the person in song is searching for this thing that makes him so at peace in love with this thing its his strenght its his guide "light" which does really refer to our lord and savior its just a very deep song with about as meaning behind than anything ive ever wonderful song

Well this song is deff. is about religion and jason's relationship with God. Not with anyone else BUT God! if u want to think differently that's awesome but if u want the truth i just gave it to you. "Everything" refers to what God is to everyone. He's everything that's all u will ever ever need is God that's it. He's everything in my life i know that without him im just a lost soul.

O my goodness. this song is so awesome. I love it. To every girl out there if you have a boyfriend and he doesn't feel this way about you, I feel sorry for you. I just got through a Long relationship, and this song just is one of the greatest songs ever. This is what a want to feel for someone and for someone to feel for me.

I quitted my everything today, get530, you are so right, i feel so insufficient, always. Now that it's over, i dont know how i could be that patient for years.....awful. Some ppl are very lucky while they don't know it.....

Whoever the "everything" in this song is, i feel envious, really.....

this song is one of those that makes me intensely sad and i don't even really know why. but it's such a powerful song and i'm very, very impressed that it has more comments / appreciators than "hanging by a moment" which is a great song but much more well-known. there are true music lovers here... way to go.

The song is deffenately about God... I had never heard of the band before but when I first heard the song, it was obvious who he was singing about.

And to me, God IS the One... I only wish I was talented enough and love God as much as he obviously does to beable to come up with something this good.

I know this is most likely about God for jason.
I myself am a Athiest.
I read one of you said that only God can give one peace of mind. But that's not true, there's a person that gives me just that, and she doesn't even have to do anything, i can just lie beside her and look and her when she sleeps, and i don't really think, I'm just overwhelmed by joy, because she's mine.

i first heard this song.. in the 6th grade. and i could have sworn it completely explain how i felt about my [first] boyfriend at that time. but.. then we broke up and i almost burned this cd. but.. for some reason i didnt.. then i got saved.. and i listened to this song ans i got the most amazing feeling ever. i think its about god. but.. when me and my first boyfriend got back to together two years later.. i thought about it describing him again. i think its interchangeable. but its nice to have a clear way to explain how i feel about both my boyfriend and god.

To me this song is about God to, It even became part of the way I pray! hehe. Man have I cried when I heard this song! My mind kinda snapped and I went off in tears for about 3 hours :S it granted me a personnal liberation.

Though the song would fit nicely to a girl, I believe it is much more powerful when talking about God.

Last time I checked, girlfriends/boyfriends don't calm storms.I'm fine with the fact that some people might think of their significant others in such a high regard, but you can't get past the fact that this song also describes how awesome a relationship with God is.

Though I can definitely see how this would relate to God and religion, to me it is a reminder of just pure love. For me, it was literally the anthem of my first breakup because it was how I had felt for the person. Therefore, it always speaks to me about a love that quite simply gives strength and a reason for life. Quite simply, every line is so simple yet so powerful that it truly is breathtaking.

I find it hilarious that people can have such a deep and meaningful connection with a figment of their imagination. It just seems just so absolutely ridiculous.
This is about a significant other, you cannot convince me otherwise.

why the hell would this be about god...and for all the ppl that say "oh ur bf/gf cant calm storms" well if uve ever been truely in love u'd know that when ur in love its like even the worst storms can be like nothing as long as u got ur gf, like nothing can be bad cuz your so deep in love, its like when ur that in love everything just seems better...the sun shines brighter, the day seems better..just everything ya no wut i mean? well yeah thats all i gotta say

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. This song is just simply breath-taking (like many lifehouse songs!!) Everything about this song is just so beautiful.. the words and the tune. This song takes you to the most peaceful place.. what an escape it is listening to it. This song makes life more beautiful and calm, how incredible. This will always be one of my all-time favourite songs. I have loved it since the very first time I ever heard it. Every time I listen to it, even years after I first discovered it - it still feels like the first time I heard it. And to me, that's a phenomenal song. it's a rare thing.

Well being an agnostic, I generally don't relate to "Christian pop" music, but for some reason Lifehouse gets to me. I knew the song was about god, but it's so beautiful I can't deny myself the privilege of listening to it even though I don't agree with what it's about.

I agree that this song is about God, but I also see it as a man singing about how much he loves his girlfriend or wife or whoever. Such an amazing song :)
