Lyrics for Everything as interpreted by oofus

Everything Lyrics
find me here
and speak to me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
you are the light
that's leading me
to the place
where I find peace again

you are the strength
that keeps me walking
you are the hope
that keeps me trusting
you are the life
to my soul
you are my purpose
you're everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this yeah

you calm the storms
and you give me rest
you hold me in your hands
you won't let me fall
you still my heart
and you take my breath away
would you take me in
take me deeper now

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

cause you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

The song seems to be about god. It says "you still my heart and you take my breath away" This is when its your time to go and god has the power to still or stop your heart. Then when it says "you are the light that is leading me to the place where i find peace again" god will lead you in the right direction. He is everything to you. when nothings going right you can turn to god. he keeps you trusting. These are my thoughts. Everyone has there own opinion.

I don't know, if jason wade meant this for to be about God or about a girl. i sure know this is about love. The lyrics are direct and have no deep message in it i think.
But this is a very special song, this captures the need, the love, that someone can have for another. It starts in a very calm way... And then it goes up... it goes back to the verse.. it goes up again.. and then explodes. It's love, it's life, he sings almost in desperation, as there were no words for him to tell "her" (i guess) how much he needs her. I think this is a perfect song

yea right...god hahaha, if that moron even exists he just brings hurt and pain, nobody could sing this about god.
its about love, the one thing in life that can make you happy, when you find real love, you feel like this song and mean it with no doubts atall.

personally, I don't know how people seem to find the "Godly message" in this song because in my opinion it has nothing to do with God, but whatever. I think this song is really about love and the feelings that can hardly be expressed with words when you're with that special person in your life.

Well I'm sorry to make ya'll "agnostics" feel stupid but Lifehouse is a CHRISTIAN BAND! The song is and only is about GOD! They performed at a church in my area and Jason Wade even said the song is about his relationship with GOD! Other Christian bands like Lifehouse have come out and said that their lyrics are not about girls (Switchfoot, Spoken, Reliant K and Underoath) but are about the love of God and how to treat others. I hope ya'll "agnostics" feel even more touched about this song since you ya'll now know that it is about GOD!

As I'm standing here, practicing for an audition for a band as a singer, I'm singing this song. The lyrics to this song lead me along. I haven't read the whole thread of posts, but I know that this song is about God. I never had any doubts about this. Listen to the lyrics, people. How could you think anything different? God is...everything. That's why I'm practicing singing to this song. If its meant to be, if God gave me a talent to be a singer, then why would I sing a song to practice for an audition other than a song singing his praise? I love my Lord, and so does Lifehouse. This song is AMAZING and so is the Lord that they're singing to.

We've sung this song during worship services a few times, and I had no idea it was my Lifehouse. It's an amazing song, and the line "You're all I want, You're all I need, You're everything" completely sums up my heart's desire for God. It's incredibly moving!

I believe you could argue that every love song is associated with God because love comes from God. He created love after all, therefore love comes from him and is at it's best when it's given cos of him. If you get what I mean!

To me this song initially sounded like a lover's song but somehow it felt spiritual too. However, lookin into it,the relationship described is more about your maker than your lover.

This song is really nice. I think it takes a good song to cause debate hehe.

is it me or does the singer sound like he's ready to break down and cry while singing this sing. Anyways i am not a very religious person, but when u hear a song like this it can still hit your soul. It's nice to have a song with so much power as this one, terrific. Even non-relgious people can appreciate great all-around songs like this. my favorite part in the song is wen he says "you calm the storms
you give me rest," nice job lifehouse.

ok, i know everyone can have their own opinions of the song, whether it be about God or a loved one, but the religious fanatics on here need to do the same. those of you who say that only God can bring this kind of peace of mind have obviously never feeled what it's like to be in true love with someone.

I absolutely love this song. I bought their album back when "Hanging By a Moment" was gaining popularity, and this is by far my favorite song on this album. After reading some of the other users' interpretations, I can see how this song could be about his relationship with God; however, I believe it is about someone he cares about deeply and how he could never live without them. This song always puts me in a good mood, even though it's slower. The lyrics are beautiful.

calm the storms, give me rest, still my heart... I've grown up in the church, but been very much a part of the world, and I know that people don't just used terminology like that about girls. Those are like the cookie cutter phrases that every church hymn or contemporary worship song has in it. I'm sorry, but it is just not feasible for this song to be about ANYTHING, but God.

I first heard this song because my girlfriend let me hear it. It was absolutely amazing. I view the song from the perspective of a guy singing to a girl e's in love with, madly in love with. But what ruins it for me are the harebrained Christians being rude about it. Don't get me wrong, I respect the ones who said they 'feel' this, and they 'think' that. It's their opinion. But when you take the space up on this site to preach to people about God, and call people stupid or be rude to people, then you're being a hypocrite. Doesn't the bible say to 'love everyone'? It makes me mad when people like Phrenchorn say that it can't be about ANYTHING but God. I use terminology like that about the girl that I love. Because it's true. Because of people like you, I'm losing my faith, not rebuilding.

Basically I have to agree with steadlydrowning. This song is awfully depressing to me mostly because I don't have this kind of relationship with anyone including God and almost everyone around me has someone. Also for the simple fact that I listened to this song for thirty minutes straight just bawling locked in my bathroom after a huge fight with my parents. And on top of this.. my best friend really let me down and the guy i've like for almost two years basically told me he hates me.

Enough complaining from me.. back to the song. I'm betting that this song is about God even though God isn't really in my life though it can be interpreted in other ways. I'd like to think that it is about a girl-boy relationship though I'm certain it was meant to be about God.

i think this could very well be about god, but the first time i heard it i took it a different way. to me, this sums up the feelings i have towards a certain guy.

"you hold me in your hands
you won't let me fall
you still my heart
and you take my breath away"

this reminds me of him a lot. this could very well be his feelings towards a special someone. it goes both ways, because i related very much so to this song relationship thinking wise, as well as in relation to god.
