I think this song is about God. Most of Jason's lyric have a spiritual meaning to them and wel frankly, it makes this songthat much more passionate and amazing. However you want to interpret the song though, it's awesome. The passion with which he sings it and the emotion that he put into it really make the song great. It hard to hear this son and not get at least alittle emotional, it's just one of those songs that touches your soul. I love Lifehouse, great song, phenomenol record.

Ok sorry to break it down for everybody but Lifehouse isn't a Christian band. I read a review of the cd a while back and they said most of the songs written on the cd were about this girl he fall in love with. The song is amazing. My favorite song of all time.

It's about getting so deep into it. Falling in love with that perfect someone and they're everything to u.

I was never a huge fan of Lifehouse and i'm still not... it's actually quite ignorant of me because i've heard this song and i love it yet i don't seek out any of their other music...but at least i can admit it.
I was drunk one night and i was in my buddies car and me and him were both going thru the same depressing predicament with a different girl: "i love her!! she's everything, but what am i to her? merely a friend..."
he slipped his lifehouse cd into his cd player and i sat there and listened to "Everything" and i fell in love with that song right there and then even in the drunken state i was in.... i was so captured by the depth of emotion in the song i nearly started to cry.

no matter what, this song is magical no matter who it is or what it is about, it is an amazing song"....

I've heard this song many times, but I'd never sat down and just read the lyrics before. WOW! This is such a beautiful song. Whether it's about his love for God, or his love for a girl......it's an awesome song about truly finding that one person that completes you. It kind of looks to me like he's singing about God though, because of the part where he says "you are the light that is leading me to the place where I find peace again" But this song has taken a huge jump to one of my favorites!

Now I have read every review posted before mine, and it just amazes me. Basically it's 50/50 on wether it's about God or a relationship. I guess you can interperet it both ways, but the very religious people that say "how can you relate this song to a relatioship" well I feel sorry for you. If you can never feel that way about someone and only about God, then i dont know how you can find true love. it just makes me feel weird when most of the people said this song could only be about God. Love is just as strong as any relationship to God. if not stronger.

i'm sorry, Prometheus, but i must disagree. there is no relationship stronger than that between God and man. some people may value their romance higher than God, but there is nothing that God loves more than you and everyone else in this world. that is what he created us for, to love us and for us to love Him back with everything we are, and yes, to love Him more than anything or anyone else.

on to what this place is for... this song, to me, is the singer's way of professing his dependence and longing for God and all that He has to give us.

I love this song; it's one of the most beautiful I've ever heard, lyricaly and musicaly.

But I am SICK of you people seeing this song in simply black and white.

Yes, I'm speaking to both the Christians and the Lovers here. This song can be be both about God and love, but it can also be so much more. It's the type of song that is interpreted INDIVIDUALLY by everyone who listens to it.

You cannaot simply say this song is about God, or love, and leave it at that. Whose to say what a song is or is not about, besides the person whose heart it touches.

So, please, if you have an opinion about this song, let it be just that, an OPINION. Don't say it is one thing and that you are right and everyone else is wrong. That kind of attitude is asinine and childish.

You people are raping the song of it's meaning and beauty; just stop and enjoy.

this song is touching and so emotional i dont understand why it has to vbe directed to one specific thing. whether its about a girl or god or wheatever it doesnt matter. all that matters is that on some level, any level, it touched u and made u believe in something. and what that something is doesnt matter cos its different for everybody. for osme its god, for others its a girlfreind or a boyfriend. whatever it is is not the point or the meaning of the song. the point and meaning of the song is for u to be able to listen to it, be touched by it and start to have faith and believe in something. and if thats what happened to you then thats so great. but dont go putting things into catagories. just leave them where everyone can see it, hear it, feel it, and believe in it, and get something out of it.

Being told by a girl I love that this song reminds her of me was quite possibly the most flattering thing I've ever been told in my life. Pure emotion is raw and awesome; this song is all of that, and more. I probably would have forgotten this song at some point in my life if it wasn't for the direct relation it has to me. I won't ever forget it now.

Despite what other people might think, this song TOTALLY makes me think of God. I worship to this song, ALL THE TIME. And this song makes me cry when Im worshiping because it makes me think "Wow, this is exactly how i feel about My Savior". Even when im not worshiping, and im in a car just singing to it, I stick my head out the window, or I look up at the stars, or the moon, and think "What a wonderful world God gave me to live in.." and i cry still... :) I hope some of you get the same feeling now that you have seen what I think of it :).

This song makes me not only think about my Heavenly Father but also my Dad... they both give me peace of mind and fill me with love. And i think melancholymaniac is right when he/she says that you can't just say that oh this is definately about God or this is about a girl or whatever because what this web site is about is what this song means to you, not what the artist means by it or how everybody else interpretes it, you. for someone who has a relationship with God it can mean love for God to them, and for someone else it can mean deep love for someone else... I agree with everyone on their perspective, i also think this song can be viewed in a million different ways.. no matter what, it touches everyone in a certain way. Its a beautiful song with a lot of meaning and it was presented wonderfully. Lifehouse is amazing...

I haven't read everyones posts down here however my idea is that the meaning of a girl/god is exactly the same as each other. Now if you are a hardcore bible abider then you will disagree. I believe in god and a higher power, however that god is not bound in the pages of a book or the foundations of a building. But within the things that we hold dear to our hearts. Like the birth of a child, the death of a loved one, and of course the sharing of love. That is god. For me the song is about both issues. The guy sees his god around and inside of them both.

i've read most of everyones opinions about this song....i dont agree or disagree with anyone....everyone has their own opinion about this song and who it was meant for....me personally i thought it was made for a girl....this is a beautiful song.....this is one of me and my bf's songs and the things he says in the song is the way me and my bf feel about each other.....i never really thought of it as being a song for God....but everyone has their opinions and i respect that.....

The song was the first song I heard on the first CD other than Hanging by a Moment. I listened to it over and over and over. It made me cry each time. It is so beautiful and so touching and it is definitely one of my favorite songs ever.

Oh, I LOVE this song! To me, it's about a relationship, which is why it was the first song my husband and I danced to at our wedding reception a few weeks ago. It was a little long, of course, but celebrating our marriage with such an emotional song was just beautiful.
