Lyrics for Everything as interpreted by oofus

Everything Lyrics
find me here
and speak to me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
you are the light
that's leading me
to the place
where I find peace again

you are the strength
that keeps me walking
you are the hope
that keeps me trusting
you are the life
to my soul
you are my purpose
you're everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this yeah

you calm the storms
and you give me rest
you hold me in your hands
you won't let me fall
you still my heart
and you take my breath away
would you take me in
take me deeper now

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

cause you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

I just wanted to say that when I first heard the song I didn't really think anything of it. I didn't actually listen to the words just kinda the beat. Look up on youtube "lifehouse everything skit." You'll understand what others are saying when they say it has to do with God (which I believe as well). Really listen and watch...you might get what it means too.

I Feel This Song Is Aimed Towards God.

'I want to feel you
I need to hear you'

But I Also Feel As If The Person Singing Is Struggling For His Life,
And His Faith In Religion Keeps Him Strong.
But he Wants To Find Peace,
In Heaven Maybe?

'you are the light
that's leading me
to the place
where I find peace again'

There Is Strong Faith In This Song,

'you won't let me fall'

I'm Not The Most Religious Person In The World,
I Struggle With Faith But I Feel As If this Song Helps Me Understand,
How People Perceive God.

Lifehouse Reminds Me Of Switchfoot In a Way.

This song owns all other love songs.
It's just gorgeous; a soothing melody accompanied by smooth, sweet, well-sung lyrics.

Since I'm non-religious, this song has a different kind of meaning to me.

To me it is about loss- but I first heard it in a video about a girl dying from cancer.

Well, first of all they are not a "Christian band." Yes, some songs are faith based but Jason himself has stated they are not a Christian band.

I do not believe in God, or partake in any kind of religion but the religious songs that Lifehouse sing are absolutely beautiful. They are so powerful & amazing. I think it's great that there are some as dedicated to a religion as Jason is. It's beautiful. The music is beautiful. BUT....each person interprets songs differently. With this song, & a few others, it is exactly how I feel about my husband. You can say that there is no way this song could be about a bf/gf/wife/husband/etc., and that's fine. I don't mind, but all that says to me is that you haven't experience such an immense bond with another human just like some of us are so lucky to be involved in. This song is how he makes me feel. We have an incredible relationship.

So....carry on. :) Enjoy the music. Lifehouse is absolutely the best. No matter your religion (or lack of), we can ALL enjoy the beautiful songs they make.

ok for all of those pple that are saying that this song "just cant" b about a girl is wrong. most of you who are saying that have probably never gotten to love another human being like that. yes this song is and can b about God. if thats what you believe the song is about then im all for you. but that doesnt mean that it cant b about another person because frankly i believe that God would WANT us to love another person that much. this song i dedicated to both my mate and the Lord.

I wish people with a personal grudge against Christianity would step back a moment and be fair. I wouldn't say I'm active religiously, but I know why the Christians feel they way they do. If you find beauty in this song by relating it back to your relationship, that's fine, it's up to you, but can you blame anyone who is looking for something deeper in music than the endless "I'm crazy in love with this girl"/"I'm depressed that I broke up with this girl" songs that endlessly stream out of our radios? Humans are obviously flawed, and their relationships can only go so far. Lay aside your preconceived ideas about "Christians" and imagine a real communicating relationship with the ultimate power that created you, that knows everything about, that will be there for you for eternity? The ultimate love... and the language of this song seems to reflect that kind of love, eternal, all powerful.
Is it any wonder Christians aren't satisfied when something says "This song reminds me of my ex-boyfriend!"

'you calm the storms
and you give me rest
you hold me in your hands
you won't let me fall'
that is all like straight out of the bible...the rest of the song can be taken in any other way but those four lines are what prove to me the song is 'christian'. Maybe he meant he love someone with the admiration people love God but...i doubt it.

Music is great how everyone interprets songs differently. In many songs though, there's one meaning that seems more likely than another.

For this song, for someone that doesn't have a relationship with God, it would be difficult to see this song in that sense, especially if they are, or have been, in love. Love for God is similar to that of a partner. In the same sense, it would be difficult for someone that hasn't loved another, whether God or an individual, to feel the full passion of this song.

I personally see the lyrics being directed towards a love with God, but that only matters to me.

YES. Please watch the video on Youtube. There are many, but here's one I particularly enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nig4Rbeoqwk

Enjoy.

I hate to tell you all this, but this song ain't about no girl. This is the voice of a guy who is in the midst of something very troubling, and he is crying out to God. In his own moving prayer said aloud, he figures out that all he wants is to know God, and once he knows God, "you tell me, how could it be, any better than this?" Joy and peace fill his soul in that moment when he truly is in communion with God. Beautiful song.

And i find it just insulting that you could take the emontion in this song and comparing it to that towards a girl...anyone who thinks that this song is about a girl is on crack cuz God is so much better than any person and its crazy tht the thought that this song is about anyone but Him is appaling.

This song reflects a relationship in which one person is completely devoted and inspired by another. I think it's up to the listener to determine who that reflects in their own life. It could be God, or it could be a loved one. Just depends on who you have that type of relationship with...I can see both perspectives.

(sorry so long) This song is a very very beautiful and emotional song.
yes, this song was orginally written as a song written about Jason Wade's walk with God
and for millions of Christians (including myself), it is also a symbolism
for our walk with God also. But for those who don't see God in it, it also makes
a very beautiful song one would write for one's soul mate.

this song is very powerful, and with the Lifehouse Skit really
demonstrates its orginally meaning with very much impact on those who watch it.
I know in my own life, I have struggled with each of the things the Lifehouse Skit portrays.
this song is particularly significant to me, especially the
"you are the strength that keeps me walking,
you are the hope, that keeps me trusting,
you are the life to soul. you are my purpose, you're everything".
I often struggle with depression and He alone has been my only source
of supernatural strength to carry on, and when I'm let down by those around me,
and I'm let down by myself, He is the only One that keeps me trusting,
and when I want to give up on life, He is my only purpose for living.

I seriously hope this song isn't about god. I like this song because it reminds me of me and my fiancee. This was going to be one of our wedding songs but seriously if it's about god my fiancee isn't gonna be happy about that haha. He's an Atheist and well.. I'm Wiccan so this just wouldn't work...

I really like this song. I first heard it soon after my girlfriend broke up with me after randomly downloading songs. It would bring me to tears because she was my everything, and I was and still kind of am severely depressed about all of it. Anyway I don't care what or who the song is about, I just know and remember how it made me feel during this point of my life. Beautiful song.
