Could you let down your hair
And be transparent for a while
Just a little while
See if your human after all
Honesty is a hard attribute to find
When we all want to seem like we've got it all figured out
I may be the first to say that I don't have a clue
I don't have all the answers
And god I pretend like I do just
Trying to find my way
Trying to find my way the best that I know how

Well I haven't memorized all the cute things to say
But I'm working on it
Maybe I'll master this art for today
I'd I quote all the line off the top of my head
And you'd be
I don't understand all of these things Ive read
I'm just trying to find my way
Trying to find my way
Trying to find my way the best that I know how

Well I haven't drawn it or figured out quite yet
But even if it takes my whole life
To get to where I need to be
And if I should fall to the bottom of the end
I'll be one step back to you
I'm trying to find my way
Trying to find my way
Oh, I'm trying to find my way
Trying to find my way

General Comment:I first heard this song and I thought it was alright. Maybe because I wasn't in a situation where I could fully understand the meaning of the lyrics. Then life became harder and I had more responsibilities on my shoulders. I now understand what I means to try your hardest and hope for the best. I'm just amazed by the amount of determination expressed in this song, with the quote:

"even if it takes my whole life/to get to where I need to be"

It's very encouraging and I'm glad I learned to appreciate it .

Also, on a funny note. I driving home one night, and my friend called me. He was lost and he needed directions. And I was actually playing "Trying" and I heard the lines "trying to find my way"...I laughed so hard hahaha.

General Comment:he wants to find his way, he wants to be better person, he wants to believe and always have faith & good morals.. he is talking to someone dear telling them that "honesty is a hard attribute to find" and looking for its meaning .. No one knows the whole truth so does he. Therefore, he wont pretend like he knows everything, he is still working on himself on becoming a better person, focusing on his believes and innerself.. and so all he is going to do is try his best find the truth and dig deeper for the meaning of honesty even if it takes him all his life.

General Comment:i love it when he says..."i haven't memorized all the cute things to say- but i'm working on it." it just makes me think about how people think that they have to live up to certain expectations..but noones perfect. he probably hears all these guys telling their girlfriends all these cheesy lines and he thinks that he has to do that too but he hasn't learned it yet. he just feels that pressure and hes trying like everyone else is. thats what everyone in life is doing..just trying to be their best.

General Comment:He wrote "Trying" when he was 15. It's about the same kind of spiritual searching as "Only One." After his parents got divorced, he wrote the lyrics to it, then learned how to play guitar and came up with the melody. The song's about finding your way in life. He was trying to figure out what he wanted to do, what he wanted to become, not just in music but also who he was as a person. he considered "Trying" his first song, the first one he didn't scrap. The funny thing is, he can relate to it more now than he could back then. Sometimes he thinks, "Man - where did that come from?" he still feels the same emotion when he plays it, so I guess it's pretty timeless; people can relate to it, no matter how old they are.

    amazing song

General Comment:This song hits me because it's what I always have trouble with: being transparent, being sincere and honest. I get it in my head that 'human' doesn't seem good enough, or sometimes that I can't even live up to that. Sometimes I compare myself to others and I think I'm either better than them and I get 'a swelled head' or that I'm worse than them and I feel miserable.
But, when it all comes down to it, we're all just trying.

General Comment:Oh, this song described school, my relationship with God, my relationship with ppl, my struggle to be moral, everything. If I could tell you only one thing about myself, "I'm trying" is what I'd say.
