Lyrics for Aurora as interpreted by me109cito

Aurora Lyrics
You believe there's something else
To relieve your emptiness
And you dream about yourself
And you bleed and breathe the air
And it's on and on and on and on
I just kinda died for you
You just kinda stared at me
We will always have the chance
We can do this one more time
Hell yeah, I remember aurora
Hell yeah, I remember aurora
All this time
Hell yeah, I remember aurora
Take me now, we can spin the sun around
And the stars will all come out
Then we'll turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
You believe there's somewhere else
Where it's easier than this
And you see outside yourself
And you buy the hole you'll fill
And it's on and on and on and on
Hell yeah, I remember aurora
Hell yeah, I remember aurora
All this time
Hell yeah, I remember aurora
Take me now, we can spin the sun around
And the stars will all come out
Then we'll turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
On and on and on aurora wait for everyone
Wait till the last one's done
On and on and on aurora wait for everyone
Wait till the last one's done
Take me now, we can spin the sun around
And the stars will all come out
Then we'll turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
Turn and come back down
On and on and on and on and on
On and on and on and on and on
On and on and on and on and on
On and on and on and on and on
On and on and on and on and on
On and on and on and on and on

I think it's about being in awe of someone and doing so much for them when they don't even notice or care what you're doing.

I love this song so much. In fact it was my favorite-favorite song for about a year and I would listen to it before going to sleep every night. I think it's definitely one of the top five Foo Fighters songs. And I think it's about loving somoen so much that you're amazed by what they do to you.

take me now, we can spin the sun around
and the stars will all come out
then we'll turn and come back down

Aurora is a street in Seattle, close to where Dave lived when he was still in Nirvana. The song is about his life there and remembering it after everything that happened to him....

The distortion on the guitar adds a unique effect to the song. This is probably my favorite track on "There Is Nothing Left To Lose". "Aurora" is just one of those songs which puts you in a good mood.

You know what I just made the connection between? There are two songs I love called "Aurora" - this one, and one by Veruca Salt. Ok, so the VS one was written by Nina Gordon, but Dave Grohl used to date Louise Post from VS - maybe it's about their relationship and that's where he got the title from. This appeared on "There Is Nothing Left To Lose", which was released in 1999 - I know they split in 1997, but Veruca Salt's "Resolver" was released in 2000 with a lot of lyrics aimed at Dave.

I absolutely love this song. This song always reminds me that there is always 'something else' out there....that there is always hope...no matter what. This song also made me love the name Aurora. It almost makes me want to change my name to Aurora- a free-spirited wonderful person.

I have always loved this song.....There is just something about it. It is so peaceful and peaceful. My favorite line from this song is at the start of this song. When he sings

"I just kinda died for you
You just kinda stared at me"

The line itself is really awesome. It makes me thing about when you do something for someone and they just start at you as if not acknowledging what you have done. No matter what it means....It is my favorite line in the song. I think the way Dave Grohl sings it just makes it even more beautifull.

I think the meaning is more in the actual music than the lyrics. It's a Contemplative, but happy song, this always reminds me of seeing the aurora myself. Its's just as beautiful as this song. not alot of people try and make music 'art' anymore....jeff buckley did.

This is from an interview with Dave Grohl and Joe Whiley.

JW- We might do. Can we talk a bit first? Is 'Aurora' a love song?
DG- Yes. It's actually about when I lived in Seattle I lived right off of this street called Aurora Avenue, and I miss it.
JW- Right.
DG- I miss it. I miss everything about my life I had in Seattle.

I kinda go along with triptiensemble. This song has special lyrics but the thing that has always taken me with this song is the actual music. The last minute of this song has some of the most amazing sounds I've ever heard in any song ever.

This is a beautiful song.

Dave must have loved the period of time this song is about. I suppose everyone has a favorite time in their life they love.

In my opinion, this is the best song that the Foo Fighters have ever written.

It's in my top-three "most beautiful songs" ever list, as well.

This is one of those songs that I will know for the rest of my life, and I'll never get sick of it.

I have not yet come by a dud Foo Fighters song. Aurora and Everlong would have to be my favourites, they are just so beautiful. Dave Grohl is so talented.

Here's what Dave Grohl said about this song

"'Aurora' is definitely one of my favourite songs that we've ever come up with. Lyrically, it's just kind of a big question mark, but the words sound good and it's a nostagic look back at Seattle and the life I once had. That song actually questions the meaning of life, probably. It's probably the heaviest thing I've ever written."

I think this is a really beautiful song and if Dave says it is his fav foos song then it's gotta be good!

For me this song is about that entire late 80's/early 90's Seattle era when these new bands were really getting a chance to be heard. When ordinary everyday kids got a rare chance to actually say something on a big stage. It kind of made you feel like this world might change for the better with our generation. It felt kind of special.

It was a something special that I think was killed by the very things that the generation was rebelling against. I think Kurt's death was one of the final nails in the coffin which is one of the reasons it was so sad.

When Dave says, "I loved everything about my life in Seattle." it really tugs at my hearthstrings, because I really miss those days too. The days where real life pressures of reality hadn't reached you yet and life was mostly about being carefree and having fun. Where you had the whole world in front of you and your vision hadn't been corrupted.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Dave did say it was a deep song.
