Lyrics for Everlong as interpreted by me109cito

Everlong Lyrics
Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong

Tonight
I've thrown myself into
And out of the red, out of her head, she sang

Come down
And waste away with me
Down with me

Slow how
You wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head, she sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
Got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

Breath out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in

And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head, out of my head, I sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
Got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
Got to promise not to stop when I say when

Ok, other examples:

Favorite song off of any of these influential albums could be the best song ever:

Dark Side of The Moon - Pink Floyd

In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - the Beatles

Paranoid - Black Sabbath

Obviously, there are many other albums that could be considered as having the best song ever, and that fit these criteria. I would like to point out that I don't like many of these albums, including some that I listed.

My point is merely that this song is not the best ever, by any stretch of the imagination.

I had to go, unfortunately, before I could finish that post. So here's the rest.

21st century schizoid man by King Crimson could also be the best song ever because it touched off the Heavy Metal genre.

The best song ever could just be the best song on an album that is both influential and not been done before.

Examples:

to come later, as I have to go, again.

For me, the best song ever has to fulfill several criteria:

It has to be something special (as in, any old song won't just do, no matter how enjoyable it is)

It has to be groundbreaking (as in, it has to be something new, that hasn't been done before, both conceptually and musically, this ties in a bit to the above criterion)

It has to be really f***ing awesome (fairly self-explanatory)

And this song fulfills...

0!!!!!!!!!!

of these criteria, only one of which is an opinion. So no, it is not the best song ever.

First off, anyone can write about sex, as proven that about 90% of all songs by 90% of all bands/artists are either about love, sex, or wanting sex. So this song is nothing new. Second, this song is not groundbreaking. The instrumentalism is weak, the lyrics are shallow, the sound effects are uninspiring, and so on. Also, if this song was on MTV, then it is mainstream. Groundbreaking does not make it onto MTV. Hands down.

As for the song being good, well that's an opinion, so I won't comment of that.

Now, for a song that fulfills all three criteria, try Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick.

It is a social commentary on everything, set as a poem written by an eight year old boy and set to music by the band (Ian Anderson, the band's frontman, wrote the lyrics in reality). I cannot think of one other song as all encompassing as this.

It is groundbreaking. This song was the first song to last the entire length of the album (broken into two parts simply due to time constraints of LPs). It also came with a fake newspaper that took longer to produce than the album.

And, of course, it's just really good. The lyrics are intelligent (perhaps more so than anything else, "I may make you feel, but I can't make you think." The music is engaging for all 43 minutes and 40 seconds.

this song means about 2 years of my life to me. i love it so much-but at the same time i hate it. i dunno if my memories from it are good.. but i do know what the song means.. TJ and i figured that one out along time ago...
--> this song is about sex and also about being in love. "And out of the red, out of her head, she sang.. and i wonder when i sing along with u".. thats talking about having sex. singing along with ur partner. obviously hes very in love with the girl he never wants to stop loving her. he asks her to promise him to not leave. 529forever.

Judging from the above interview extract it seems that Dave must be talking about Louise Post and not his ex-wife Jennifer Youngblood. Dave sang a song with Louise Post, I think its called ‘touch’ (not sure) so that would make sense. She was in the band Veruca Salt.

"That song's about a girl that I'd fallen in love with and it was basically about being connected to someone so much, that not only do you love them physically and spiritually, but when you sing along with them you harmonise perfectly" - Dave Grohl, Kerrang! Issue 1112 June 17 2006 (this week's issue).

yeah i think foo fighters is being belittled too. they had The Colour And The Shape which i think is the seond Nevermind. if u think i'm exaggerating, just go and listen to Monkey Wrench, My hero, Everlong, February Stars and Walking After U. and for remembrance, all of these hits r in the same cd and really kick ass.
i think the most basic reason for that is lack of good propaganda and advertising. just see what RHCP done with Dani California. in a concert all of the fans were wearing the same t-shirt. if they wanted to be the mainstream bands, be sure they could. Dave don't want himself and it's inheritance of being with Kurt and nirvana. as u probably remember, kurt hadn't good relationship with media. foo fighters are the best hard rock bands of today. go and focus on their songs, you'll get what an amazing band they are.

Why must Dave Grohl always be compared to Kurt Cobain?! He was in Nirvana, big fucking deal! Kurt Cobain was an awesome lyricist, but he really couldn't Hack it. It sucks, but Kurt is no Idol like Dave Grohl is for 2 reasons...1 Curt Cobain was a timebomb waiting to explode and every Nirvana fan knew that it would happen eventually. And...2 Dave started from a previous band in which the lead singer had more fans than the band because he offed himself. Foo Fighters are an awesome band and they are very underrated. Anyone agree?

this song is supposedly among many on TCATS that were written about/after Dave Grohl's divorce, and after going through divorce myself it went from a good song to a GREAT song.
