This is one of my favorite songs ever! It's so beautiful, the lyrics and the way Dave sings it with so much passion! In both the original and the acoustic, it jsut kicks ass! I'm not even really that big of a Foo Fighters fan, but this song means so much to me, when I heard it when I was in like 4th grade and had no idea what the lyrics meant, I still loved it. Now that I'm older I can relate to it more. I'm still not sure what all of the lyrics mean, but I think that with most of the great songs in this world, they're so personal to the artist, that there are words in the song can only be understood by the artist. They aren't meant to be understood by the listeners, but I think that makes a song better, when there's a kind of mystery about it. I just love the line "And I wonder If everything could ever feel this real forever." It just reminds me of being in love and not ever wanting to let go of the amazing feeling that it gives you and wondering how long that feeling will last. This song means more to me than I can even put into words, but I've done my best to do so.

i think that this song really is amazing and like some people said i am not catergorizing every song ever cuz i havent head every song but out of all of the music i have heard this is def. in the top 10.. foo fighters kick ass and dave grohl is awesome

Whether or not you think this is a great song, you have to admit that it has an impact. It can touch a lot of different people in a lot of different walks of life, and really, it's a song with fairly impressive saying power - it's been five years since its release, and they still play it on the radio. Also, the Foo Fighters play it at every (I believe it's every) concert - there would probably be rioting if they didn't play it.

Whether or not it's top-ten, this song holds up.

This is one of my favorite songs simply because everytime I listen to it, it feels like the first time i've heard it, and the emotion never gets old, and the feeling never gets old, and dave's passion never gets old. This song is just gorgeous, so simplistic yet so moving at the same time.

Note: who cares if a song is "top 10" thats just stupid lets just drop the topic altogether :)

tHis is just a brilliant song, the passion in which it is sung, the way the lyrics perfectly describe his feelings, just amazing. i dont think the foo fighters will every be able to match the brilliance of "the colour and the shape" although i dont think they need to, their music has progressed and they are now at a differnt stage, however they can look back and know that they have created a masterpiece in "TCATS". This song also has one of the greatest film clips in the history of film clips.

this is definately a favorite of mine. the lyrics are just about love and hoping that it'll last forever. the reason i love this song is that when these lyrics are set to that music, it just sounds so sincer. it's real. really real. it's the closest thing to audio perfection i've ever heard, and it's brought me to tears more than once. earthshattering.
