Lyrics for Everlong as interpreted by me109cito

Everlong Lyrics
Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong

Tonight
I've thrown myself into
And out of the red, out of her head, she sang

Come down
And waste away with me
Down with me

Slow how
You wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head, she sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
Got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

Breath out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in

And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head, out of my head, I sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
Got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
Got to promise not to stop when I say when

this song is truely amazing.the music is simple but so hopeful, and the words are, really the best lyrics i think i've ever heard. i think its about love.but most of all how someone could love another person so intensely and the song shows how happy the love of this person makes you feel. really i don't think anyone should know what he says during the bridge. it not important. its for you to decide. is much as i'd like to know what he is saying to its just better noty to know.

I'm just glad Nirvana existed as a launching pad for Dave Grohl. Not that Nirvana wasn't great, but the birth of grunge and the death of hair-metal wasn't the David and Goliath case that everyone makes it out to be. Hair Metal had cannibalized itself so bad (witness Spinal Tap) that it was nothing more than the "Wile E Coyote" hanging by a slowly unraveling thread over a canyon just waiting to be sent to it's fate by any new thing. Even now, Grunge already sounds dated to me, while the majority of the Foo Fighter's stuff is timeless. That's why it's Everlong.. He promises not to stop when fate says "when." Probot, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Pearl Jam, Killing Joke, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stoneage, Tenacious D, Nirvana.. Dave has contributed to all these projects/bands at some point over the years. Grunge is dead. Emo is already tired and old. Rap-Rock is cliche. But Dave has done something very few people achieve. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect everyone else's, I'm just expressing mine. Don't be mad because I think and feel. There are few albums that are as good today as they ever were. The "Blue Album" by Weezer, The "White Album" by The Beatles. "The Colour and the Shape" is another (are we noticing a pattern here?). It's more than a decade old. And people are STILL commenting about how this music is changing their lives. Thanks for all your contributions Dave, you have no idea how much it has meant to me.

well..it was on at my sister's wedding but it was the acoustic version of course..otherwise her wedding would of been to hardcore for the old folks to handle.

I heard this song on the radio a few times but I didn't know that it was them.
When I saw Dave sing it acoustic on the Live Earth concert I felt and understood that he is one of the great lords of rock music today !
he just holds the crowd in his hand -he has a stage presence that can't really be learned ,
he is so cool cause he's like a down to earth normal man.

And coming back from a comment I left in January. I experienced this song over the summer...it's not fair. It feels like I experience this situation every day though.

I miss you Victoria....ha.

My opinion about this song is different from most of you. The original version is a good song, nothing more. It is not great and the Foo Fighters have much better songs. However, I have the live, acoustic version and it is one of the most incredible things I have ever heard. Honestly, it may just be the greatest song ever written. I will try to see them live in Charlotte this year, and I cannot wait to hear this song. The Foo Fighters are the best modern rock band, hands down.

Finally someone ismart enough to tell the difference between murder and suicide =)
I guess he's (Dave Grohl) reading a love note and an instruction manual during the bridge.... Make's me laugh that an instruction manual could sound so amazing...

By the way, the video has NOTHING to do with the song... Grohl says that music is something you should feel, instead of watching the video to try to get an idea of what the song"s about.. and i couldn't agree more.

Alright, I love this song. My band gets to do it. =D.
Second off, who said Kurt killed himself? I remember someone saying that some apages back, and, don't be a dumbass. Love had someone kill him, the facts are there.

But what is Dave saying during the bridge of the song?

i didnt read EVERYPAGE of comments for this song so someone might allready said it but in my opinition this song is clearly neither about sex nor about any kind of relationship.
you only have to look at the music video for everlong to get its real intention.

its about dreaming.

some people start dreaming the same dream maybe about the same person over and over again.
"hello i've waited here for you everlong"
says the girl when dave steps into his dreams.

and he wonders if this could feel "this real" forever knowing that it cant because sometime he's gonna wake up and have to wait until the next time he dreams about the girl.

it's kinda obvious folks! watch the video!

it sends out a really sweet message about the person their in a relationship with, theyre singing about this moment theyre in, so in love but doesn't know what to say, nothing in the world could make it better. only if the moment lasted forever, me and my boyfriend call them RAL's Random Acts of Love

some one might have already have said this i didn't read very far past the first page ( I don't have long enough attention span) but I here in the recording for the CD the singer ( I'm not good with names of band people either any way) played all of the instraments on his own! I thought that was pretty interesting

I should also add as a technical point of view - that main guitar riff at the very beginning and at the bridge is AWESOME! So simple, and you'll never forget it.

I've never been a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I can say at this point in time, this is my favorite song.

I remember hearing this when it came out, I think I was in 6th or 7th grade; it didn't really mean much to me at the time. I'm well into college now, and only recently I heard it played on the radio, and actually listened to what Grohl was saying - and I don't know of any other song that has cut into me like this one did (and does)!

Too me it describes the powerful, fiery emotions involved in being with that perfect girl. It also touches on the tragedy of the fear of not ever being with her/feeling like this again. I rediscovered this song AS I was going through that with a girl. It just hit home so hard...

I'm definitely NOT an emotional person, but this song has made me tear up on a few occasions; even though there IS that slight feeling of hope in it too, which is why I keep listening to it.

This is such a hauntingly beautiful song. It manages to be wonderfully uplifting yet deeply sad at the same time. I believe it's about love and sex, reaching the height of ecstasy and how incredible it feels. however it also says how fragile and precious that feeling is
'If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again'.
he's reached as high as he can be and but he could fall down again. if its just about sex then this makes sense because orgasms dont last long. but if it's about being in love maybe the message is more hopeful, maybe it could 'feel this real forever'

Let me say this to every retard saying shit about Kurt Cobain: #1- Dave Grohl had NOTHING to do with his death, nor did he ever have an affair or any other sexual relations with Courtney Love, who is another retard. Infact, he literally said that he HATES her... Look in the book Who Killed Kurt Cobain

#2- Kurt Cobain DID NOT commit suicide. I guarentee that b/c little comment alone, Im gonna have 50million ppl on my ass trying to tell me that he did, but whatever. Youre all ignorant. Dont even try to say anything about it unless youve actually looked into it. Oh and for the record, it was literally physically impossible for him to pull the trigger.

Anyway, about the song...AMAZING! Definately one of my favourites (ever), and by-far, the best Foo Fighters song. This song is the meaning of Euphoria.

Nirvana and Kurt Cobain were the most overrated band/musicians ever. The best thing that ever happened to Nirvana was Cobain blowing his brains out.

Foo Fighters > Nirvana. Hell everyone > Nirvana.
