The Kombucha mushroom people,
Sitting around all day,
Who can believe you,
Who can believe you,
Let your mother pray, (sugar)
Well I'm not there all the time you know
Some people, some people, some people,
Call it insane, yeah they call it insane, (sugar)
I play Russian roulette everyday, a man's sport,
With a bullet called life, yeah called life,(sugar)
You know that every time I try to go
Where I really want to be,
It's already where I am,
Cause I'm already there.(sugar)
The Kombucha mushroom people,
Sitting around all day,
Who can believe you,
Who can believe you,
Let your mother pray, (sugar)
I got a gun the other day from Sako,
It's cute, small, fits right in my pocket,
Yeah, right in my pocket, (sugar)
My girl, you know, she lashes out at me sometimes,
And I just kick her, and then she's O.K. ,she's O.K.(sugar)
People are always chasing me down,
Trying to push my face to the ground,
Where all they really want to do,
Is suck out my mother fucking brains, my brains (sugar).
The Kombucha mushroom people,
Sitting around all day,
Who can believe you,
Who can believe you,
Let your mother pray
I sit, in my desolate room, no lights, no music,
Just havoc,
I've killed everyone,
I'm away forever, but I'm feeling better,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
Fuck you, it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
Fuck you, it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel,
What do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away.
Yeah, right in my pocket, (sugar)
My girl, you know, she lashes out at me sometimes,
And I just fucking kick her, and then, oh baby, she's o.k. (sugar)
People are always chasing me down,
Trying to push my face to the ground,
Where all they really want to do,
Is suck out my mother fucking brains, my brains (sugar)

How do I feel, what do I say,

How do I feel, what do I say,
Fuck you, it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
How do I feel, what do I say,
How do I feel, what do I say,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away,
In the end it all goes away.

General Comment:you dumbasses. it's about a dude getting drunk and being questioned at a station. he's in a cell solitary confinement for life. the kombucha mushroom mother is used to make yeast to make beer. people drink, get fuct up, lay aroun' all day. "let your mother pray". the alcohol is gonna spread in your body and get you drunk. so drunk you get in a fight w/ yer chick and she calls the cops. but before they get there, you kill everyone. drunk.

General Comment:Probably another song like suite-pee. It's about absolutely nothing! Just turn it up and enjoy the music...

General Comment:I think of this song describing a person who is so depressed and becoming sick - insane. They do drugs to escape their shit life, nobody cares about the person anymore, he doesn't believe in anything. He can't take it anymore and snaps and kills everyone. "How do I feel what do I say in the end it all goes away". He realizes that there is no meaning to life.

General Comment:I think this song is about how people do drugs and then eventually get addicted to them. This song shows what the person that does drugs thinks, feels, and how they react with the world and other people during the day. Like kicking his girlfriend, or killing everyone and being locked away forever, and even not being there all the time. I've never done drugs, but from the sounds of it, it makes you feel like you're somewhere else.

General Comment:'thev' says it best when equating the Kombucha Mushroom people 'wage slaves', however, I have a bit of a different spin on the mushroom part; since mushrooms have no part in the effervescent Kombucha drink. I believe the term 'Mushroom' denotes our heritage of coercion regarding our use of nuclear weapons, yet we're too hopped up on "sugar" to know/care/or even understand, hence the following lines:

    Whoo can believe you?
    Whoo can believe you?
    Let your mother pray...

All in all, this song IMHO is just an observation of how twisted our society is.

General Comment:It's kinda hard to give System of a Down songs a meaning, because they usually don't have any. But my best guess (because even high people have a somewhat logical thought process), it would be talking about how the world is out of control, and he feels that he's the only sane one left.

My Interpretation:Kombucha is a symbiosis of bacteria and yeast(often given the misnomer "Mushroom") in a fermented tea beverage. The bacteria eat the sugar in the fermentation process. this is used as a metaphor for the mentally destroyed subculture of severe drug addicts. Sugar being a reference to cocaine.

How does this tea ferment or deteriorate? By sitting around for a few weeks. This gives you a clear picture of what he means by "The Kombucha Mushroom People." Sugar is what enables the fermentation process. Cocaine is the driving force of the deterioration of the drug abusers.

The rest of the song is just a profile of a typical violent, moody, paranoid, unstable severely disabled drug dependent person.

General Comment:Kombucha means a magical liquid that people used to live forever. Now this song talks about them and if you see the video, its mostly about office people sitting around all day. The video also shows Serj and the band with the american flag in the back of them. Theres also holocaust pictures or references. When Serj says 'i cannot wait forever' its reference is the kombucha liquid that he drank. This song has alot of meanings to it. The sugar part when he says it is like a drug. Its also talking about public violence. :) Comment Please.
