Who the hell are you to tell me
What I am and what's my master plan
What makes you think that it includes you
Self-righteous wealth
Stop flattering yourself
So when the smoke clears here I am
Your reject all-American
Sucking up your social sect
Making you a nervous wreck
To hell and back and hell again I've gone
You're not my type
Not my type
What's the difference between you and me
I do what I want and you do what you're told
So listen up and shut the hell up
It's no big deal and I'll see you in hell
So when the smoke clears here I am
Your reject all-American
Sucking up your social sect
Making you a nervous wreck
To hell and back and hell again I've gone
You're not my type
Not my type
Not my type
You're not my type
So when the smoke clears here I am
Your reject all-American
Falling from grace right on my face
To hell and back and hell again I've gone
What I am and what's my master plan
What makes you think that it includes you
Self-righteous wealth
Stop flattering yourself
So when the smoke clears here I am
Your reject all-American
Sucking up your social sect
Making you a nervous wreck
To hell and back and hell again I've gone
You're not my type
Not my type
What's the difference between you and me
I do what I want and you do what you're told
So listen up and shut the hell up
It's no big deal and I'll see you in hell
So when the smoke clears here I am
Your reject all-American
Sucking up your social sect
Making you a nervous wreck
To hell and back and hell again I've gone
You're not my type
Not my type
Not my type
You're not my type
So when the smoke clears here I am
Your reject all-American
Falling from grace right on my face
To hell and back and hell again I've gone

Am I the only person who saw the Bikini Kill reference? The song "Reject All American." The ALBUM "Reject All American"? Hellooooo?
p.s. i'm talking about the letter on the website that W33nie has posted.
And I love the new album too. Dedicated fans of Green Day should like them unconditionally, not only when they make and Dookie- or Nimrod-sounding album.
The song was initially written as a response to an angry letter from the mother of an eight-year-old boy complaing about the content of Green Day's songs and how Billie Joe could put his talent to a better use. This is, more or less, his response.
To me personally, this song is aboout doing whatever the hell you want to do and not listening to what other people say. It's also a message to everyone who likes to stick their nose where it doesn't belong telling them to back off. It's a you live your life and I'll live mine kind of thing.
I don't think Billie Joe is a typical reject. I just think he does what he wants and as many people accept him as they do reject him, but I don't think it makes a difference to him.
