the begining sounds like the clash song "know your rights"..anyway this song is about, like everyone before has said, living life to the fullest and not always second guessing things so that u wont regret what u didnt do later in life

yeah i love the song and the clip is AWESOME!! and the thing about Groundhog Day is really cool...after reading that i went to watch the video again and i was like: oh god...it's awesome!!

but i still think it's kind of a coincidence...or not? if it is...it pretty freaky...and if not...well it's nice anyways cause i love the movie...

P.S. i love the part in the clip where he takes the candies from the man in the car!!!!

we're all victims of authority, no matter how much you think you're not..but little things help us breakout like what the guy does in the video.

Someone want to give me an example of how this song has had an impression on them? meaning, a real example where you thought how much you wanted to do something so randomly or dangerous at a particular time & ACTUALLY done it while thinking of this song [or not even, just done because you thought wtf might as well]? that might not make any sense at all, i'm just curious though, because lately stuff like that's been happening to me (thinking ..what if i ___ and then being like fuck it, and doing it) i just peed myself, literally. (i guess things like that..or maybe not that was an accident, i really had to go but i was typing..OK nevermind, i just want some example)

This song is talking about how with all the precautions everyone takes today that no one is really experiencing life to the fullest. All the warnings and myths are fucking up any fun and real liberation each individual could have because they are just so damn scared.....F*UCK IT!!! LIVE WITHOUT WARNING!!!!

anyway, the song and the video are great they're one of my favorites but what's "impair your ability to operate machinery" mean? it might mean most of us rutinely run our lives redundantly like running machinery and the announcment might alert you to break out of it.

Most of your guys' perceptions of this song seem to be correct but I have found something else that connects it. Now I'm not exactly the biggest Greenday fan but I just watched Groundhog Day, now if you haven't seen it go check it out for yourself and you'll know what I'm talking about. As you have all mentioned this song is about not giving a fuck and living your life to the fullest, while in the movie Bull Murray does exactly that, living without warning, because he knows he can fix his mistakes whenever from living the same day over and over again. Another thing came to my attention in the music video the guy wake up at 6:30 am while as to in the movie Bill wakes up at 6:00 am, now I'm thinking that the guy in the music video might just living his day again and again getting up at 6:30 everyday. The guys from Greenday might have been tying this song to that movie or maybe it's just all one big coincidence? You decide.................................

I personally relate very much to the "is the cop or am I the one that's really dangerous?" line.. as well as the ".. question everything, or shut up and become a victim of authority" line because, especially lately, I've become very questioning of everything--ESPECIALLY authority figures.

its so great how the music in the song is upbeat and confident, but the premise of the song is absolute chaos. its about how civilized people in general are so damn scared of society colapsing. they need to take a break and relax the rules (live without warning)

the video for this song is one of the best videos ive ever seen. its great. i love this song. its so simple to play on the guitar. (for anyone who wants it its A,D,G,D) wow. greenday really are such a good band. this song is just about not faffing on with small things and just getting on with your life and being ambitious. if you know what i mean.
