this has been stuck in my head for the past few days thanks to a friend of mine (thanks kate). She knew all of the lyrics but didn't have a clue who it was by until Adrian (die-hard green day fan) started yelling at her saying if she was gonna sing something, she should know the artist. Green Day's awesome, screw labels.

Green day rules. This song might have kicked off their popularity, but fuck that. Green day is one of the few bands that will always kick ass whether they are popular or not. Also, this song is a classic. I love it!

GrEeN DaY is an AWESOME and AMAZING band who was GREAT when they first started out and now is still just that GREAT... I guess their style has changed a lil bit, but just as some other kid said: time changes, music changes, EVERYTHING changes! They are still so fucking awesome, and this song is one of their best!

i think that this is about having problems. (DUH!) and the melodramatic thing means that even if the problem means nothing to other people, it drives you nuts! and you just want someone to sit there (just a nodding wall) to listen to everything you have to say, because you need advice and don't know what to do. and you get paranoid cuz you think it's a big deal

I read a previous comment that said this song is about being high and what matters to you and how everything seems like it's a big deal, but I read in a magazine interview that it was written by Billie-Joe because he had panic attacks. It makes sense. WE all go crazy sometimes, and this song expresses it. It's the anthem of all Green Day fans, I think.

If you ever saw Green Day live...you would quickely agree they are punk. Yeah, so they have decided to experiment in the studio with different stuff than in past albums? Who can blame them?? Honestly, how many songs can you possibly write with 4-6 chords! (Which by the way, is not BUT punk!) Green Day has a great fuck you attitude, which I also must say is punk.

Billie Joe wrote this song when he was having panic attacks. At the time he didn't know what they were and he thought he was going insane.
