green day is so punk. just ask the punkie bruster. this song is mainly saying when ur high you always feel someone is after you. you always wind up turning everything into such a big deal, when really its nothing.

Uhm,Green Day rocks, but they are NOT an alternative rock band, that's like saying the moon is made of cheese.
Green Day is punk, I don't think many of todays famous alt. rockers lived in punk collectives and played in punk rock clubs.

as much as i love Green Day, they are not true punk. But, right now, neither are the clash and all. As great as they were, and still are, punk changes with the times. Green Day, The Clash, The Ramones, ect. are all punk rock legends.

I'm not really a greenday-fan, not anymore anyway. But this song is one of the best punk, or alt-rock ( i don't care) songs ever.

Punk all the way. The old greenday is all punk, and the new stuff like the "warning" CD is like kinda a mix of alterna-rock, and punk. It's all cool though, and Greenday is definatly #1 on my list of all time best bands ever. "punk princesses" need to die!!

Green Day= #1. "Basket Case" however, is actually about Billie Joe's panic disorders before he knew what they were, the song is a perfect discripion of it too.

i think its really pathetic that everyone seems to care so much whether green day is punk. as if there is a strict definition of punk, and it has to sound a certain way. i thought the punk attitude was about breaking rules... so therefore if green day really is breaking the punk code of conduct doesnt that make them even more punk? ehh never mind
