This is my favorite Green Day song. It's about being so lazy and bored in the summer that you masterbate all the time and don't shower or care about anything. This has got to be one of the best summer time songs ever. I love it. It's so true.

This song is clearly about masturbation and lack of motivation to do anything else. He seems to think that jobs are not worth having because his mother doesn't like the one "she's got" but that is just what he tells himself to justify his laziness and lack of ambition. He is just taking the easy way out and living a pathetic life. Also, I think it was kind funny that they played this song on MTV's New Year's Eve celebration. I don't think Green Day is the voice of lazy and lonely people, it seems more like they are making fun of them.

to me this song is about being bored, no doubt. and that his life is so pathetic that he spends most of it masturbating. he's so lazy that he doesn't want to do anything else. and when his mom wants him to do somethin with his life by gettin a job, he says 'but u don't like yours' pretty much sayin so why should he get his. and then he throws in the 'some say quit or i'll go blind' just for kicks.

wow this is my new favorite song. I cant belive i never noticed how good it was b4...i like it cuz the guy is kinda like me even tho im a girl but newayz sometimes i get so lazy like that and i cant make myself do anything....but im not always that lazy and im not a frequent masturbater...but ya know what i mean.

this song is so awesome!!! it's so representative of boredom...i too love the Bass intro it's one of the best GD song that makes bass look important (this one and Welcome to Paradise (which i also love!!!))

Many points:

To whoever asked, "some say quit or I'll go blind" is about the myth about masturbation...to keep people from wacking off all day long (like they obviously do anyway) parents would tell their kids that they'd go blind if they did it too much.

Although I agree with everybody on how AND512 is a complete fucking jackass because I'm a huge Green Day fan, he or she is obviously not here anymore, so you can stop yelling.

Undisputedly one of the best songs I've ever heard, and it completely sums up my life (for a year ago or so at least) because I'm sure a lot of us who've posted live in small, fucking pathetically boring towns.

i heard somewhere that mike wrote the bass line when he was stoned then forgot it the next day. also, this is one of the green day songs that took about a year to write.... and finally, its not like AND512 has any friends to talk to about how much he hates green day geez.. great song by the way.

I like the drumming in this song, the bass line rocks, and I love how Billie sings this especially the word "close". Geez it's a weird accent...By the way, I hate Sum41 and Blink182. I wouldn't diss them, but honestly, it's Green day for me and they are the original Punk band of 'our generation'

at the end of "what you will" I can hear a little voice on the right side..... ummmmm is there really a voice ? ok maybe im just crazy heehee

Anyways I never really liked this song at first but now um It's ok, but not my fav. My fav. is when I come around........
