When dreaming I'm guided to another world
Time and time again
At sunrise I fight to stay asleep
'Cause I don't want to leave the comfort of this place
'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape
From the life I live when I'm awake
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?

Can you take me higher?
To the place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To the place with golden streets

Although I would like our world to change
It helps me to appreciate
Those nights and those dreams
But, my friend, I'd sacrifice all those nights
If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same
The only difference is
To let love replace all our hate
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?

Can you take me higher?
To the place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To the place with golden streets

So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?

Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time
Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine

Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine

Can you take me higher?
To the place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To the place with golden streets

Can you take me higher?
To the place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To the place with golden streets

General Comment:This is a beautiful song. I wish there were more interpretations, however, than judgmental opinions. This is exactly what the song is saying. He feels better if he were higher then this society. These comments prove it. Can you blame him? Great song -- and for those who didn't apparently learn this in "Bambi" -- "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say nothing at all." A kid flick has more morals than some of the comments I've seen posted here -- it is embarrassing.

Anyway, I like songs for the song, even if I don't like the band or whatever. If the song touches you, then it touches you. If it doesn't, move on and find another song :)

General Comment:I've had a lucid dream before, its really fun. It sucks I'm not in the state to try it again, my creativity is hampered. But anyway even if it there is some inspiration from the lucid dream I also think he put his faith in the song as well. Everyone knows where golden streets are- Heaven, and only blind men can see in heaven, so there has to be a spiritual reference there. Whatever I don't want to argue. I just like this song. A positive song for once.

General Comment:it's too bad your all wrong!!In the September 2000 edition of Spin magazine, Scott Stapp explained that this is is not about Christ's ascension to heaven or taking a big bong hit, but is about the power of lucid-dreaming: "You're physically asleep, but you're awake in your mind," he explains. He read a book about Hindu monks who have perfected the technique and thought it might help him squelch a recurring nightmare: He's running down a highway, closely pursued by a man with a gun. He turns left and hides behind a pillar beneath an overpass but gets shot anyway. Stapp says that once he learned how to lucid-dream, he was able to alter the nightmare so that he turned right and escaped. After he wrote "Higher" about the experience, he never had the nightmare again.

General Comment:These lyrics are very spiritual and that is no lie. I guess you need to have a connection to God or some higher power to appreciate them. Makes me think of being with my family on a beautiful day & having a great time and all the goodness and loveliness that life has to offer.

My Opinion:What i dont get is why people say they suck i wanna know why they suck i mean bosco gave a good reason but what i dont see if why people just say they suck and they dont give a good reason. I mean at least give a reason like the guitarist sucks or something not just say "Creed Sucks i hate them" My thinking is that you dont understand the songs and say u hate them because u dont know what it is about i read peoples comments and i finally realized what this song was about and im glad i know its about him dreaming of heaven and looking down on earth and seeing how bad it is. But b4 u say creed sucks i wanna know why its just shows that ur a little bitch because u wont give a reason u cant just hate something without a reason lol its just stupid.

My Opinion:well in my opinion, I see the song as singing about Heaven.
"can you take me higher? to a place where blind men see?
can you take me higher? to a plave with golden streets?"

but again, I suppose that's just my interpretation of it,
although several other of their songs also seem to have a
    faith-based meaning to them also.
    love the song though! :D
    creed's awesome!

General Comment:Not the biggest Creed fan (in fact this is really the only song I like), but this is a very good song, I do think that Creed gets a pretty bad rap though, they're just playing the kind of music they like, and if it makes them money, that's a plus. As much as I hate to say it music has become a business, and it's not about having fun anymore, it's about making money. Being a musician, I only listen to what inspires me, I hate it when people only listen to underground music, and the same to those who only listen to mainstream music. There is inspiration in both categories, but overall pretty good song.
