    Song Meaning:I had the guy who wrote this as my english teacher. The song is about how his wife wanted hip to propose and was really impatient about getting married and how he wanted her to trust him and that he would eventually do it

    Lyric Correction:I think that the end actually goes

    I love this part... I think is absolutely true, and that if people actually don't make promises that they can't keep, relationships would probably be easier...

    General Comment:I love this song... And I think its a song about making someone else trust you, and helping them overcome their pain... and also about personal growth.... "for though i cannot fly, im not content to crawl" expresses that I think...

    My Interpretation:The song is about a guy who is so in love with this cynical girl who is having hard time trusting people, or trusting guys with her heart. The girl is also thinking about giving up on love as the guys says in the opening lyrics:"So your standing on a ledge, It looks like you might fall So far down, Or maybe you were thinking about jumping." And this guy is trying to convince the girl to at least give him a shot and prove his worth to her. Admittingly, the guy tells the girl that he might not offer more than what her previous relationships have already given her in terms of money, security or looks but even if he's just an average-joe he thinks that he is worthy of her feelings as what he says in the following lines "For though I cannot fly, I'm not content to crawl!." The girl obviously doesn't want to entertain the guy wooing over her but this resilient guy is asking her to please reconsider and give him a chance of proving himself before shutting him completely out of her life as what the lines "But you should never let the sun set on tomorrow, Before the sun rises..." tell us. These lines are also a reminder for all of us to not let something end before even giving it a chance to even begin. I really love the lyrics of the chorus as the lines are so simple yet the message is so strong and brutally honest. In the chorus the guy says "If I am another waste of everything you dreamed of, I will let you down...If I am only here to watch you as you suffer, I will let you down..." which means that even if the girl thinks that he is just waiting his time for her she is absolutely wrong! If you read the lines its like the guy is telling the girl upfront "Look, I know you're thinking I'm just another jerk who will hurt you in the end , but you're absolutely wrong. I'm different. I care..." The second verse of the song solidifies and supports the image of the girl portrayed in the first stanza as being someone who finds it hard to trust people, ("And you could find the fault, In the heart that you've been handed!") probably because of a traumatic relationship in the past. The guy tells the girl that because she shuts everyone out of her life she doesn't see the people around her who try to reach out and who really care about her ("But you're so far gone,That you don't see the hands upheld to catch you."). The song ends with the guy telling the girl that if only given the chance, he will prove her wrong and he will be the one to stick by her in until the end. ("I will never leave you! I will not let you down!" )

    My Interpretation:To me this song conveys a troubled relationship.

    He loves her, but realizes that if he doesn't make her happy and is simply a 'waste of everything you've dreamed of' and if he is 'only here to watch you as you suffer' that he will let her go so she can be happy.

    They say if you love something, you have to let it go. If it comes back to you its yours, if it doesn't it never was. But the sad truth is that sometimes, many times, it isn't going to come back. But you have to let that person be happy.

    General Comment:"For though I cannot fly, I'm not content to crawl." This song is a search for something better, it's optimistic about the future. Refusing to be a waste and a disappointment...we are all special, we all deserve the chance to fly. So don't give up, don't fall off that ledge, don't even think of jumping off that ledge. Someone is always there to stop you, to catch you, to help you on your way, whether that someone is God or simply another person. Someone always loves you, and you can never let them down.

    General Comment:This song makes me sad yet happy at the same time. I take it as a guy who loves a troubled girl and the entire song is that feeling, that moment before you feel just before everything becomes perfect or doesn't happen.
    My favorite line is "I wanna be with you forever, if tomorrow's not to late."
    I wanted to say that to someone for so long, but never could.

    General Comment:I think everyone is looking at the small picture here. I see this song as being sung by God( or Spirit, or whatever you want to call the Force that we are all part of.) Someone is ready to give up on God and life and God is saying hey, it's not always the way you want it to be, and even though you feel like you are being forsaken, I am there, not only from a distance to watch you suffer, but I have a plan. I have " the hands upheld to catch you" even though you don't know were that is coming from. I was in a low spot of life, my good friend had just died, young and needlessly, and I could see no reason to go on. I was hysterically crying and I turned on the radio and this song, I had never really listened to the lyrics before, came on, and I felt ... caught... to use the phrase from the song, by ... God. I was stunned. It brought back my faith. Listen again.
