"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds, but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
Swallow my doubt, turn it inside out
Find nothing but faith in nothing
Want to put my tender
Heart in a blender
Watch it spin round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous, then I'm through with you
I burn, burn like a wicker cabinet
Chalk white and oh-so-frail
I see our time has gotten stale
The tick-tock of the clock is painful, all sane and logical
I want to tear it off the wall
I hear words in clips and phrases
I think sick like ginger ale
My stomach turns and I exhale
I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds, but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
I would swallow my doubt, turn it inside out
Find nothing but faith in nothing
Want to put my tender
Heart in a blender
Watch it spin round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous, then I'm through with you
So Cal is where my mind states
But it's not my state of mind
I'm not as ugly sad as you
Or am I origami, fold it up and just pretend
Demented as the motives in your head
I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds, but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
I would swallow my doubt, turn it inside out
Find nothing but faith in nothing
Want to put my tender
Heart in a blender
Watch it spin round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous, then I'm through with you
(Rendezvous)
I alone am the one you don't know you need
Take heed, feed your ego
Make me blind when your eyes close
Sink when you get close, tie me to the bedpost
I alone am the one you don't know you need
You don't know you need me
Make me blind when your eyes close
Tie me to the bedpost
I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds, the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
Swallow my doubt, turn it inside out
Find nothing but faith in nothing
Want to put my tender
Heart in a blender
Watch it spin round to a beautiful oblivion
Rendezvous, then I'm through
Now I'm through with you
Through with you
Rendezvous, then I'm through with you
I would choke on the rinds, but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside
Swallow my doubt, turn it inside out

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
this is an awesome song... "Or am I origami? Folded up and just pretend. Demented as the motives in your head" ~~ my favorite line
These lyrics have soooo much imagry!! And they're soo creative!
Sicknesss - This song is so beautiful because somehow it makes faith from sadness. all his depression, which he said was the source for the song at a concert i just went to, is actually turned into this amazing emotional canvas through song... or a beautiful oblivion
I love this song. It spoke to me and my bad relationship so deeply. I'll be happy to interpret--
I would swallow my pride. I would choke on the rinds. But the lack thereof would make me feel empty inside. Swallow my doubt turn it inside out find nothing but faith in nothing. Want to put my tender heart in a blender watch it spin round in a beautiful Oblivion rendezvous and I'm through with you.
--He's saying he would just swallow the pride he has in himself and just stay with the she-devil because he loves her but then he would just feel empty inside. He'd feel empty because he knows in his heart he deserves better than what her selfish self could ever offer him. He'd forget about all the doubt he has in her but then he would just have faith in nothing. Because he knows in his heart he's right about her and is totally right for having doubts. He's so in love with her and has put so much energy into loving her but has come to realize she's never going to treat him right. He's torn. He feels inside out. He wants to just throw his aching heart into a blender. --or am I origami? Folded up and just pretend. Demented as the motives in your head. Origami is folded paper that then resembles a 3d object. He's inside out, he's freaking doubting himself now. He's saying or am I like you? Completely fake and just resembling niceness. With the same demented selfish motives as her?.......No chance. This girl is just evil.
--He ends up by telling her you don't know you need me. Because he's right. She doesn't realize how awesome her boyfriend is because she's too busy being obsessed with herself.
They will meet up one more time to settle up and then he's done with her fake ass.
Love this song. It came into my life at a great time and I'm thankful for it. It allowed me to see more clearly and realize I too deserve better than a selfish and fake little girl.
@JayRollin good for you. Don't stay in a relationship when you know it's not good for you. If it's just toxic, it's not worth it, and it's not worth the love you put into it, and they're not worth it, nor you. So I say again, good for you.

@JayRollin oh, sorry, I didn't know it was just adding it, I thought it just wasn't working.
I guess this song could have many different meanings-- but to me personally, its a break up song. Not a sad-sing the blues break up song, but more of a screw you song. I love it when he sings "I'm not as ugly, sad as you!" I blasted this song when my boyfriend and I broke up, it made me feel better. :)
I agree with Benzo.....I think the meaning is post-break up. Basically i think the interpretation is right on, i think the guy is trying to move on, but is having a hard time, becuae he sees whatever it was that he had in the past, but he knows he deserves better
It is obviously a break-up song. He sacrificed and put up with a lot of crap for this relationship, finds out that it really wasn't worth his effort or time, and so he is done and through with her cause she wasn't worth any of his sacrifices.
Brush the Dust Away, the song is called "Inside Out." I don't get why so many people have an issue with it; if you're really a fan of the band, and you really bought their CD and didn't just pirate it, then it'd be easy to see, right there, track 2, "Inside Out."
This is the best song ever. I can't pick out a single favorite line but i like the first half the best.
Phil Collins wrote it???!!! :O!!
