Slipknot – Despise

  General Comment:Despise is not purity, despise is more from the view of the person who buried Purity. Purity is from Purity's point of view. Purity includes "Put me in a homemade cellar. Put me in a hole for shelter. Someone hear me please, all I see is hate, I can hardly breathe and I can hardly take it!" meaning she is desperate for someone to find her and save her, as she is buried in the ground. In purity the first verse is referring to the situation she's stuck in, how she can't escape and is helpless. However, in despise, it's Purity's killer who, according to the story of Purity Knight, is seen as a freak to many people. Purity's killer is referring to how he can't escape the everyday problems in his life, and that he's going crazy. The verse starting with "Lost, ran at my own cost" refers to Purity running from her killer in the song Purity. In Despise, I believe it refers to the killer trying to run from his life. He buries Purity, and sees it as burying his problems. "Bleak, all around me weak" in purity refers to Purity losing her energy, being buried for so long without food or water, and only a small hole to breathe through, which is where she tells the little boy stories from (if you don't know the story, look up Purity Knight). In despise, "Bleak, standing on my feet" refers to the fact that the killer is standing on the surface while Purity is buried in the ground. The verse beginning "Cut me- show me- enter- I am willing and able and never any danger to myself" just from the way it's sung can be assumed to refer to either the hate the killer holds for Purity or the point where he just snaps. I still want to figure out what he means by "My state of mind gets so one sided." PLEASE NOTE, PURITY KNIGHT'S CASE IS NOT REAL, IT IS FROM A WEBSITE USED TO TRAIN CSI STUDENTS.

  General Comment:Ya basically this song is the ground work for purity. Its basically purity with a more upbeat tempo and a different chorus (compare the lyrics side by side and you'll see) Idk when the two songs were written so i cant say if this song was infact the ground work or if they just gave purity a different title, chorus and called it a demo (the quality is ridiculously good for a demo) to say a big fuck you to the guy who got purity removed from the original album.

  General Comment:i just downloaded this song today and its amazing, one of my favs.
  what i get out of it is that it definetly isnt a different song for slipknot, they have many songs with similar lyrics and meanings, this one is obviously about being pushed around and lost in his anger and frustration to the point where he despises everything. whatever you want it to be.
  btw,i think that instead of "I WANT IT ALL" it is "I WONT ALLOW IT", thats really what he is saying.

  General Comment:at the end of the track i downloaded it had the band like... i dunno... watching porno or something and all i can hear is them talking, throwing up and someone playing guitar in the background.... its great! but i thought that it was off another song..........

  General Comment:this is missing some verses. - after "i'm the one your dogging" it's has a part about a hole for shelter, i have never felt so final, i think i'm fucking dying...

  General Comment:I listened to this song while reading these lyrics and the only thing wrong is 'never-ever-serrated-I wont allow it'. Im not sure if this has the same basic meaning as Purity or if the meaning of the words were changed to fit the Purity story. Purity is better in my opinion (better sound).
