This song will become the anthem of your underground
You're two floors down getting high in the back room
If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out?
Or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
This song will become the anthem of your underground
You're two floors down getting high in the back room
If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out?
Or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
I'd offer you my hand
It would hurt too much to watch you die
And you can bet that when we mourn the death of you that night (of you that night)
They'll lay me on the dinner table, I will be the pig
With the apple in my mouth, the food that celebrates your end
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
I'd offer you my hand
It would hurt too much to watch you die
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
I'd offer you my hand
It would hurt too much to watch you die
You're two floors down getting high in the back room
If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out?
Or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
This song will become the anthem of your underground
You're two floors down getting high in the back room
If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out?
Or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem

It would hurt too much to watch you die

out down there and he drowned. it may sound far too ironic to be believable but it fits the lyrics perfectly ie "If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?" and when he says " They'll lay me on the dinner table, I will be the pig" it means that everyone will blame him. It actually makes more sense than what the high and mighty asshole below me is toting (the ego metaphor) just because he read it in an interview a)it's extremely common for bands to lie about song meanings in interviews and b) anyone with 'half a brain' would back up their argument with more than 'I read it in an interview. Shit for brains.
this is how i see the song.
But yeah i agree completly with Sings-the-sorrow.
i sort of agree wth the whole ego thing.
i think its about that....
the line...
I'd offer you my hand
but it would hurt too much to watch you die.
gets me EVERY time.
amazing.
soo sweet.
i like the acoustic version better.
more emotion in his voice.
i think its abut being you n meeting someone n falling despretly in love with someone.
n gettng so confuse dn involved n then its all over..
n i feeling like a mug...like the pig on the table..
i know what i meen.
xx
these kinda songs are great though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
contrary to what a lot of people here seem to believe, this song is not about weed. you can get high off of other things folks, and smoking too much weed rarely results in a funeral.
in numerous interviews the band has said this song is about a friend with a heroin problem. makes a whole lot more sense, dontcha think?
