she's lost in coma where it's beautiful
intoxicated from the deep sleep, deep sleep
do you wonder what it's like
living in a permanent imagination?
sleeping to escape reality, but you like it like that

[Chorus:]
guilty by design
she's nothing more then fiction.
she dreams in digital,
cause it's better then nothing.
now that control is gone,
it seems unreal,
she's dreaming in digital.
she dreams in digital.

and your pixel army can't save you now
my finger's on the kill switch
i remember i used to compose your dreams
control your dreams
and don't be afraid to expose yourself
before i shut you down
you made some changes since the virus caught you sleeping

[Chorus]

My Interpretation:This song strikes me as being about addiction to technology. Her "coma where it's beautiful" is a reference the viral spread of online entertainment as a substitute for chemical drugs in escaping a harsh reality. The addiction becomes so intense that the digital medium infests even her dreams and subsequently causes her to ask the immortal philosophical question "Am I really real?". Is her addiction to digital entertainment and lack of self-control an indication that she is the entertainment source for some artist in a parallel universe?

Ultimately, the narrator realizes that he is in control of the addiction and "your pixel army can't save you" from hitting the power switch on the computer and really living her real life. Alternately, perhaps it is paradoxically the narrator threatening to shut off her life to prove his free agency to himself.

Marilyn Manson's Dissociative is a great lyrical compliment to this song. I think Manson is discussing how technology overtakes us and removes us from reality against our own will.

General Comment:First line is wrong. It's not coma, it's color.

General Comment:my opinion is this song is based on internet relations... like web cam and dating sites...

    EG the second verse

and your pixel army can't save you now

my finger's on the kill switch

i remember i used to compose your dreams

    control your dreams

its like he is watching someone over cam.. eg the pixels and his finger is on the killswitch eg the exit button.. and the whole composing of dreams like what he want, she does over the camera... and that way she can get him to do whatever she wants

General Comment:In my opinion what is it about: The Wired.
The thing about the friend's coma further broadens its meaning.

General Comment:I think that the song is about a girl who forces herself to live life in a robotic way and exists in a dreamland of emotional avoidance. She thinks and acts in this detached way because she was vulnerable/caught off guard at some point in the past (the virus caught you sleeping) and has since acted very detached in order to have control over her life and feelings (she dreams in digital...now that control is gone). She used to be somewhat obsessed with him (I used to compose/control your dreams) but he hurt her and now she feels empowered by her jaded attitude. His finger is "on the kill switch" because he feels that he has the power to shut down her defense mechanisms and expose her true emotions once again. I always think about Android 18 when I hear this song!

General Comment:When I listen to this song I Imagine that is about a girl, that is famous over internet. And this boy is dreaming about her, and then he gets obsessed about her. Then later he decides to contact her and he wants to meet her, when they meet, she rejects him and he did something bad to her......., this is just my imaginary :P, *excuse me, for my bad english*!

General Comment:She dreams in axiomatic absolutes. This narrow, digital schema, when applied to an analog reality, is an inadequate interpretive account. Her coma represents her comforting disconnect from the broader, multifaceted nature of reality.

General Comment:I think it's a song about someone creating an online identity of a girl, and spending all their time as this identity, thus escaping reality. After a while, they get bored with it, and can kill it with just one click ("kill switch").

All the hints show that this song is about the cyber world, aka teh internets.

General Comment:I dont like the idea of what digitalstitches said Jay saying being true. I want to think of all these other in depth interpretations being the force behind it. All these people are making good interpretations. I dont like the strict computer characterization so much but thats whats so great about music. You get all these ideas from something intending to be the complete opposite.
