If anyone misconstrues this as a love song (as I've heard before) they are INSANE... This is (in my opinion) a plea for a woman he's in love with to stay with him. He's admitting that things are crazy right now and that she has every reason to leave... But all he needs is time to fix things to make the relationship work again.

I read somewhere that this song was wrote round about the time of (WTS)MG? Noel was quoted as saying if this song had made that album that it would have been one of the biggest selling of all time! Didn't do too bad as i remeber, Great song!

The best version of this song is when Noel sings and plays it acoustic.. completely blows away the album version.. This is the song that got me back into Oasis.

The song is amazing, the second verse is best cos it reminds me of me. noel does give it more feeling and meaning, so no noels best singing it.

Wow that's weird that infidel says that. Oasis is a band that I used to like a whole lot, then I got suddenly annoyed by Noel's constant whining and other things. Don't Go Away, especially the acoustic has the potential to make me cry and without shame. I love this song, and I'm really glad that Oasis made it. Goes in my top 10 greats of all time. For the record, the acoustic one is the best...rock on fellows.

I have to say, while Noel's version is really great, the album version is so much more emotional for me. Liam's great vocals get to me every time. What a voice he has got.

this song mixes lyrics and music into a powerful emotional soup. this is one of those songs that can sometimes bring tears to my eyes (or at least it used to, back when I was a total sap). it's about someone wanting to rectify all of the problems in a relationship. the relationship isn't really healthy, but it seems to be an integral part of the narrator's life.

this song is the perfect translation of that empty feeling you get when you are clinging on to the one you love most, but all the while knowing they are gone and you'll never have them back... it feels like he is trying to savor the moment, or just hold on to what is now. he doesn't want change to come or to throw things apart. he hates the hand of cards that life delt his relationship, and he is pleaing for a redeal. don't go away.

I recently found out that one of my friends is moving to South Carolina at the end of the summer. We've known each other for 5 years and recently we've grown closer and a great relationship is developing. I don't want him to leave...this song, especially the chorus sort of sums it all up. I just need a little bit more time to make things perfect between the two of us

the girl who i have very strong feelings for told me to download this song one day. she told me it reminded her of me. i love this song so much. it is kind of our song now. i think this line sums up what has been happening lately with me and her-"Me and you whats going on?

i always thought that the lyrics of the chorus went 'don't go away say YOU WANT TO STAY...' guess i was wrong. it sounds kindda better though. still this song kicks ass!

The first time I heard this song, I had only heard Wonderwall by Oasis and had always considered them a band I would never really be into. I put the song on repeat and found a thousand different ways to try and explain what I thought he meant. Then i realized simply to me that it meant he does not want to be alone..anything to prevent the loneliness of missing and being apart from someone you love. This song opened up a whole new view on what hardships love can bring.

Hey nighthawk, im living this song as well. I met a guy, he's just like me, he's perfect, he's hilaroius he is everything i look for in a guy, and it seems as though he is into me as well. as luck would have it, he just went into the army because he needs to in order to get his education. We only met a month ago, so for me to say "i will wait for you" would be a bit much, since we don't know each other too well yet. So, when the song says "don't go away...cuz i need more time just to make things right," its like, i don't want him to leave so soon, because if he could just stay and i could get to know him better, i could have even more of a reason to wait for him to come home. We only met a month ago, and somehow i really miss him and just having fun with him like we did before he left. My friends make fun of me saying how can i miss him, i hardly know him. But it's just one of those feelings you get about someone. I get that feeling about him. "Damn my situation

this song is really about what is going on inside my head, about the end of the rellationship between me and the woman I love. It's so sad. She did not give me more time to make things right.

The song is about the Gallager boy's mother. When they were going to leave for a US tour years ago, she was sick as hell. So they wrote that song for her.

I heard it was written for their ex-guitarist BoneHead's mom...she died from cancer i do belive and I remember hearing somewhere that this song was for her...if you look at the liner notes they do dedicate this album to here...I may be wrong so who knows

It's not really about a woman leaving in a romantic sense at all, though you could probably just pretend it is. It's about Bonehead's mother or the Gallagher mother who had a cancer scare. I think that's why the video takes place at a funeral or something.

pretty much this song is about a guy asking a girl to stay with him, when the relationship isnt going well. maybe he's confused or what not, but just saying "dont go away" and give me time. NOEL VERSION IS GREAT :)

I also heard this song is about the Gallagher's mom, because of a "cancer scare." No matter what you read into it though, the song is beautiful regardless of whatever it means to YOU. (it's left vague enough that it could be related to any "relationship" in which you feel vulnerable about "losing" someone.) It's basically saying to me that someone he really loves is leaving, and that the past behind them isn't perfect, maybe he didn't show enough feeling, or try and correct differences. He wants them to stay with him so that he can have the time he took for granted, and make things better and show what he really feels. Beautiful & definitely relatible.

it was written about liam and noel's mum when she had a cancer scare. it's about the fear someone goes through when faced with the prospect of losing a loved one when you're not ready for that to happen. You can only hope for the best and pray that they don't go away.
