As black as the night can get
Everything is safer now
There's always a way to forget
Once you learn to find a way how

In the blur of serenity
Where did everything get lost?
The flowers of naivete
Buried in a layer of frost

The smell of sunshine
I remember sometimes

Thought he had it all before they called his bluff
Found out that his skin just wasn't thick enough
Wanted to go back to how it was before
Thought he lost everything
Then he lost a whole lot more

A fool's devotion
Swallowed up in empty space
The tears of regret
Frozen to the side of his face

The smell of sunshine
I remember sometimes

I've done all I can do
Could I please come with you?
Sweet smell of sunshine
I remember sometimes

General Comment:Being in the cave, safe from people, events, places. The narrator tells the story of a male character, which may or may not be himself. Having been hurt, full of regret, the man goes from hitting bottom to an even deeper bottom "thought he lost everything then he lost a whole lot more", losing the remnants of innocence in the process.

General Comment:Again, in accordance with my other posts on fragile songs, I think this is where trent gets a little ray of hope and remembers his good times with his grandmother, and he tries to reach out to her and asks to join her in death. However, he looks back at himself, and sees how stupid he was to drown himself in lonliness and anger. I also get the hint that he looks back at his love for his grandmother and sees that it was foolish to get so attached, because he should have known that it would all end eventually.

General Comment:RIIIGHT. I really feel sorry for you, because you're not skinny, your life must suck. Boo fucking hoo.

Another thing I wanted to add was "tears of regret, frozen to the side of his face" was him trying to release the regret for it to fall from his eyes and off his face into nothing, but instead it was so cold that it froze there and stuck D:

General Comment:This is good. Shpongleyes pretty much summed it up, I thought he did drugs in the ninetees though?
Also the title "I'm looking forward to joining you, finally" might mean he can't wait to die [like his grandma]. I really like "the smell of sunshine" interesting lyrics, and the overall feel of the song. Pretty ace.

General Comment:I used to know a guy who's cousin worked for Nothing around the time the Fragile came out. and if it's true it can't really be proven and disproved because if trent wanted to hide it he could very well do it. but I was told around the time his grandmother died he was dating a girl who was pregnant with his child who then had a miscarriage "thought he lost everything, then he lost a whole lot more" I can't back it up but it's what I heard.

General Comment:I think it's about a lot more than just losing his grandmother. That's kind of the central theme to the song, but there's more to it.
Seems like he was already depressed when his grandmother died. He thought he felt at his absolute worst, and then he lost her as well - "thought he lost everything, then he lost a whole lot more"
He's so miserable and disappointed with life, and therein lies the reason for the title. I'm looking forward to joining you, finally. He was already sick of life, and her dying just gave him one more reason for suicide.

General Comment:I think this song is about him wanting to be reunited with his Grandma that meant so much to him.

    [Thought he lost everything
Then he lost a whole lot more.]
Here, he was already depressed about everything, then death took his Grandma, therefor he "lost a whole lot more."

He's also remembering the "good times" he's spent with his Grandma. He never new how much he had until he lost it.
