smiling in their faces
while filing up the hole
so many dirty little places
in your filthy little worn out
broken down see through soul

baby's got a problem
tries so hard to hide
got to keep it on the surface
because everything else is dead on the other side

teeth in the necks of everyone you know
you can keep on sucking until the blood won't flow
when it starts to hurt it only helps it grow
taking all you need
(but not this time)
no, you don't

and just for the record
just so you know
I did not believe
that you could sink so low

you think that you can beat them
I know that you won't
you think you have everything
but no, you don't

no, you don't
no, you don't
no, you don't
no, you don't

General Comment:So much emotion in this track... mostly anger directed at the surficiality of most people and the vampiric nature of society. "You can keep on sucking till the blood won't flow" Even though a common mentality is that accumulating material wealth and goods sets one apart from the rest, in the end it doesn't mean anything. It's what's on the inside that counts.

My Opinion:So I'm guessing this song could not in any way be referred to a girl that gives her sorry ass boyfriend every ounce of every damn thing she has, is completely selfless, doesn't think she's got everything whatsoever...but in him, wants nothing but his love, and gives nothing but all of hers to him.... Broken down see through soul?? You made it that way. Teeth in the necks of everyone I know??? Like hell. Never thought I could sink so low?? That goes both ways baby. Think I have everything?? No, I don't.

    Blog that, bitch.

General Comment:I think that in this song, Trent is pointing out how selfish, shallow and worthless people can be.

    "smiling in their faces
    while filing up the hole
    so many dirty little places
in your filthy little worn out
    broken down see through soul"

    - IMO, this intro is about how 'broken' and shallow some people are, with their only goal being to fuck others over for their own satisfaction.

    "baby's got a problem
    tries so hard to hide
got to keep it on the surface
because everything else is dead on the other side"

    - Here he's once again expressing how shallow the person is, with literally no substance to him/her. They are all about appearences and whats on the outside, because they are nothing else. All they care about is getting their 'fix.'

"teeth in the necks of everyone you know
you can keep on sucking until the blood won't flow
when it starts to hurt it only helps it grow
    taking all you need
    (but not this time)
    no, you don't"

    - This shows how that person uses others and feels no remorse; how the person actually enjoys hurting others and then, once they have all they need - they move on. (But not this time, as the person getting 'used' can see through them.)

    "and just for the record
    just so you know
    I did not believe
that you could sink so low"

    - Here I think he shows his dissapointment in people as a whole, finding it hard to believe that there are people who are so shallow and materialistic.

"you think that you can beat them
    I know that you won't
    you think you have everything
    but no, you don't"

    - And then he states that while their shallowness might give them some satisfaction; they really don't have anything. They're just empty.

General Comment:Those blistering, ultra-saturated chords at the end rock and are quite a shocking element.

I agree with a guy who commented on many of the tracks of the album, in context this is how Trent feels by the death of her grandmother... And his sorrow turned into rage. It's not clear if it's aimed towards himself or others - after all, he banged on Manson hilariously well on "Starfuckers, Inc." - but it could be that.

It could also be rage directed towards a person who betrayed him in a way - pretty much like the target of "Somewhat Damaged".

General Comment:i was reading this: wired.com/culture/lifestyle/multimedia/2007/10/…

and this is song is how i feel about it... so, ultimately, i think this song is about those hedonistic, devolved masses who want more for themselves and fuck everyone else... who can help it. fucking media :P

General Comment:its like having a friend who sticks with you, just because you let him do shit and you give him stuff. he takes advantage of you and keeps coming back to you whenever he needs something, never because he enjoys your company. FAKE FRIENDS (filthy little worn out broken down see-through soul) once theres nothing for him to take from you anymore he's gone and you never hear from him again
