Well the satellite comes and goes
We give each other all we know
In silence we still talk
By the light of the stereo waltz
And will you rain down
In your cinematic love truck
I want to hold you like nothing's going stop us
She come to take me away
Its all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
Flicker on a TV screen
Everything's more than it seems
The mighty backward fall
Stare at the lights on the wall
I swear to this
She felt like velvet
Second blond child she meant it
She come to take me away
Its all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
I'm an alien
You're an alien
It's a beautiful rain,
Beautiful rain
Beautiful rain
We give each other all we know
In silence we still talk
By the light of the stereo waltz
And will you rain down
In your cinematic love truck
I want to hold you like nothing's going stop us
She come to take me away
Its all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
Flicker on a TV screen
Everything's more than it seems
The mighty backward fall
Stare at the lights on the wall
I swear to this
She felt like velvet
Second blond child she meant it
She come to take me away
Its all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
I'm an alien
You're an alien
It's a beautiful rain,
Beautiful rain
Beautiful rain

"we give each other all we know"-they still give to each other because music isn't needed.
"in silence we still talk by the light of the stereo waltz"-the light is still on onthe stereo even though it's not playing. They're still giving to each other, talking, being intimate.
"and when you rain down in your cinematic love truck"-cinematic love truck to me refers to her expressing her love through action.
"and she come to take me away. it' all that i needed. i don' breathe another lover."-she's taking him away, he's getting lost in the moment, in the passion while they make love.
"flicker on the tv screen. everything's more than it seems. mighty backward fall. stare at the light on the wall."-this is after she's gone, nothing is the same for him because he can't get her out of his mind.
"i'm an alien
you're an alien
it' a beautiful rain
beautiful rain
beautiful rain."
This part trips me. My honest belief...
when not together, they both feel like an alien, not normal, not whole. One cannot live without the other. but together, they make perfect sense, they fit, they complete each other...which is why I think he says it's a beautiful rain, because they fit beautifully, and he's reminded of that beautiful rain when they made love because it made him feel less like an alien...remember-and when you rain down in your cinematic love truck. That's the beautiful rain he's talking about.
This is quite a mushy love song, but I adore it.
"and when you rain down in your cinematic love truck"
like I said, she's expressing herself through action...cinematic makes me think of something that is visual, like movie films. Love truck...she's riding.
Basically, she's on top...her sweat pouring down on him. That's why I think he uses the saying--- and when you rain down. the sweat is rain.
He's sitting in front of the TV on a very nice peaceful night w/ his girl- the world is in its place on this not and the moment is perfect- so they don't really bother to mive- just observe and be- Gavin weaves in between what he feeling and observations of what is going on around him.
Here are some of the obscure pieces:
Satellite comes and goes- it's raining out- the storm is interfering w/ the satellite signal on the TV causing temporary and sporadic blackouts
Light of the stereo walz- the room is completely dark at moments because the signal is cutting out- the room is lit up by the dancing bars on the stereo
Flicker on the TV screen- clear now that we understand the satellite piece.
Stare at the light on the wall- the light coming in from outside lights perforating through the window - could be lightning as well
2nd blonde child- this is his girl- she's the 2nd borne- and he mysticized by how she came to be perfect
Alien- he feels otherworldly at this moment
It's a beautiful rain- the storm is creating one of life's "perfect moments"
Hope this helps!
really mellow..very deep..just like all of Gavins lyrics
can mean different things..
goood song to blow down too hehe -_-
"We give each other all we know" you give eachother apart of yourself;everything you know.
"in silence we still talk by the light of the stereo waltz." You're going at it while music is playing...your bodies are "talking" I guess you could say.
"want to hold you like nothing's gonna stop us. and she come to take me away it' all that i needed i don' breathe another lover." You want to hold on to that person for dear life when you get to a certin point and you feel that's all you need. "I don't breathe another lover." You'd never do this with anyone else.
"flicker on the tv screen everything's more than it seems." You're doing it while the tv's on but you're not paying much mind to it so you just see a flicker.
"mighty backward fall stare at the light on the wall." (Not meaning this to be a perv) but "her" back arches as she has her head pointed to the ceiling so she looks at the light on the wall.
"and i swear to this, she felt like velvet second blonde child she meant it." she felt like "velvet" against him and she wanted a "second blond child" assuming that they had a child previously and that when she said she wanted another kid she meant it.
"i'm an alien you're an alien it' a beautiful rain" He's in a swoon.
My interpretation isn't meant to be pervy, I honestly think it's about being passionate with someone not just lusty. That's the message I got when I first read the lyrics.
This is one of those songs that gives me an almost indescribable feeling of joy and love, though I couldn't quite put a finger on what it is. To me, this song speaks of a love relationship that is so natural that there is no need for verbal communication to convey it to one another. If you've ever experienced the joy of just holding your lover in a quiet room, without a word...you really do feel like no one else in the world exists.
I think the use of the word "alien" in this song conveys the idea of your love being alien to the rest of the world, because no one else other than the two of you could experience it. Blissful isolation as she(he) comes to take you away to that place. I always think of two lovers in a place of solitude so intense with one another that its almost like floating through space on your own ship or something, because the rest of the world is that far removed.
"The beautiful rain" part to me just adds to the sense of enjoying something quiet together in a special way that only the two could appreciate the same way.
I think the line "second blonde child/felt like velvet", first of all describes the way when you are quiet with someone, you are open to your sense of touch, and smell and you enjoy the way their skin feels, or the scent of their hair. I am not sure what the second blonde child means, perhaps he's just thinking about who his lover is, a second born child...but she feels like velvet.
Gorgeous song.
you're an alien
it' a beautiful rain
beautiful rain
beautiful rain"
I think this song just sums up how 2 people, no matter their quirks and differences, can be completely in love. Holding each other, having just each other, is all that they could ever desire. What has fallen upon them-- a beautiful rain.. each other.
well the satellite comes and goes
we give each other all we know
in silence we still talk
by the light of the stereo waltz
and when you rain down in your cinematic love truck
i want to hold you like nothing's gonna stop us
And she comes to take me away
It's all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
HELL YEAH...POETIC, RANDOM...LOVE IT!
