Lyrics for Pet Sematary as interpreted by Maxine

Pet Sematary Lyrics
Under the arc of a weather stain boards,
Ancient goblins, and warlords,
Come out of the ground, not making a sound,
The smell of death is all around,
And the night when the cold wind blows,
No one cares, nobody knows.

CHORUS
I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don't want to live my life again,
I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don't want to live my life again.

Follow Victor to the sacred place,
This ain't a dream, I can't escape,
Molars and fangs, the clicking of bones,
Spirits moaning among the tombstones,
And the night, when the moon is bright,
Someone cries, something ain't right.

CHORUS
I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don't want to live my life again,
I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don't want to live my life again.

The moon is full, the air is still,
All of a sudden I feel a chill,
Victor is grinning, flesh rotting away,
Skeletons dance, I curse this day,
And the night when the wolves cry out,
Listen close and you can hear me shout.

CHORUS
I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don't want to live my life again,
I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary,
I don't want to live my life again, oh no, oh no
I don't want to live my life again, oh no, oh oh,
I don't want to live my life again, oh no no no
I don't want to live my life again, oh oh.

Title track for the Stephen King film of the same title. Great song, first Ramones song I heard, blew me away. Went out and bought the excellent Brain Drain. Another good thing about this song is that it appears Dee Dee actually read the book --- there's quite a few lines from King's book. Any Ramones fan should read the book, anyway. It's filled with dozens of Ramones references.

I love this song.
As Daisuke said, it was written for the film.
It is also the first song I learned to play. Yay me!

I heard this song after hearing Rammstein's cover of it. Personally, I prefer this version. I really like this song because, not only is it a damn good song, I've read the book multiple times and just enjoy all the references.

And King probably is a Ramones fan. Not only did he commission them for the song, he even makes multiple references to their song, "Blitzkrieg Bop", in his book "The Shining." As Jack Torrance is starting to lose his sanity, he frequently thinks "What is it The Ramones say? 'Hey ho, let's go.'"

Crimeofpassion, I think it's Pet Semetary (the book) that the main character keeps asking about that song.
I think.

This is one of my favourite Ramones songs. It's got something more than other "hits" that have become stale with time and misunderstanding.

And also, from what I've heard about Dee Dee Ramone, Dee Dee was a huge fan of horror flicks like "Pet Sematary" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"

Yeah, definitely one their best ones. It's pretty different from their other stuff too. Love it! Ramones really have too many happy songs, that sound just the same. But this one really rocks.

Great Song. I'll have to check out the book.

The Backyard Babies do a really good cover of this song as well. It's worth checking out for sure.

It seems obvious to me that despite being commissioned for the film's soundtrack, the lyrics are more in tune with the book, specifically because of the line "molars and fangs, the clicking of bones" referring to the mass of moving bones Lewis saw in place of the deadfall when he followed Victor to the Pet Sematary, which was absent from the movie in lieu of the creepy blue light (which, given the period it was filmed, worked out much better. We may have ended up with cheesy stop-motion bones).

I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet but Stephen King was friends with Joey Ramone (I believe it was Joey if I remember correctly). King actually wrote a whole story about him and Joey going to a French Restaurant in the liner notes of the Ramones tribute CD.
