Lyrics for I Wanna Be Sedated as interpreted by Maxine

I Wanna Be Sedated Lyrics
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport and put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh no oh ho

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair
And get me to the show
Hurry hurry hurry before I go loco
I can't control my fingers
I can't control my toes
Oh no oh ho

Also, when I was a junior in high school, my US History teacher made us write songs about a particular period of history and perform them in front of the class, so we just wrote different words to this one. My buddy played it on guitar and I sang it by myself because my brother is an idiot. It was pretty damn ridiculous, but also pretty sweet.

Yeah I definitely read somewhere that this was about a humidifier exploding in DeeDee's face. Or at least I think it was DeeDee.

What an asshole, if stupid people make him hate Ramones songs, he needs a slap.

Basically this song is about being on the road a lot and boredom.

"Some of you commenting are the biggest retards I have encountered, it's too bad you're screwing up the image of such a good song, I don't want to associate this song with you morons."

Don't come to this website, then, if you're just going to complain. You whiner. :)

Dethrye, how do you know it's the best one yet if you haven't heard the rest?! (=

A.D.D. That's about all this song says to me. Sometimes I get really out of control, my thoughts run rampant and I can't speak without slurring everything up so mad no one knows what I've said. This song reminds me of that.
Great punk band, I love their songs!

i have a ocd and trust me when you're bored it's alot worse than when ur mind is occupied with something and i guess it is about tht because even though u don't wanna do something it just drives u crazy until you do it or u just have to touch something a certain amount of times.i really never thought about it like that.but these lines convinced me:
'I can't control my fingers
I can't control my brain
Oh no oh ho'
hm.it's a REALLY good song.

alright, i've you've every been sedated, its like, seriously like time travel, because you dont feel anything at all and wake up X amount of hours later. and joey says "nothing to do, nowhere to go" so i think he's bored out of his mind, and just wants the next show to come a lot quicker, and if he was sedated, it definitely would. so i think its just about impatience and anxiety for the next concert.

Well to me this song is pretty clearly related to the huge anxiety and ocd joey ramone suffered from. And this song i'm assuming he wrote when he had nothing else to distract him from that and it just went crazy and he couldn't keep it down and didn't feel like he could control it and stand the pain - I wanna be sedated.

I guess that combined with them touring England around X-mas when there was nothing to do, nowhere to go, would make that make sense to and fit.

The singer wants to be sedated because he wants that numb feeling. He is bored out of his wits and wants to go somewhere else that maybe he could get relief from how he feels. His life is obviously filled with meaningless people and see's just how plastic everyone around him is. I think he's longing for someone special in his life to come along but it never happens.

Straight from the mouth of Joey Ramone:

There's an album called, "In Their Own Words, Vol. 1" which is a compilation of various artist’s performances at The Bottom Line. On this album, Joey Ramone talks about what prompted this song. In summary, he wrote the song when he was touring in England at Christmas time when everything was shut down, and he and a band mate were in their hotel watching The Guns of Navarone on the television. They found it ironic that they were rock stars in England with absolutely nothing to do but watch an American movie. Hence the lyrics, “Nothing to do. Nowhere to go. I wanna be sedated”.

I normally wouldn't be so defensive but I don't like being called a 'fucking lier' by some guy who can't even spell liar correctly. Nor do I like being called 'mandy', but at least that wasn't offensive.

Here's yet another brief lesson; try not to swear in front of (or, in your case, directly to) 13-year-olds. Censorship sucks and everything (ironically, there's a Ramones song called 'Censorshit') but still, there's some words kids shouldn't be called.

Ummm, okay, re-read both my posts. I said where he wrote it, you loser, not what he wrote it about. :)

Considering it's two posts later and you still don't understand what I'm saying, here's a brief lesson on the difference between meaning and location/time. Meaning is, put simply, what the song's about. You wrote down the meaning. Location/time is the time and place that an event took place. In this situation, the event was the song being written. I named the location and time. Understand now?

way to spell liar wrong. :) It was just an opinion, you don't have to be so hostile. (By the way, were you going to explain how you know that it's about capital punishment for a fact or were you just stating it to sound impressive?)
