Lyrics for Carbona, Not Glue as interpreted by Maxine

Carbona, Not Glue Lyrics
Wondering what I'm doing tonight
I've been in the closet and feel all right
Ran out of Carbona Mom threw out the glue
Ran out of paint and roach spray too

It's TV's fault why I am this way
Mom and pop wanna put me away
From the early morning movie to the late late show
After it's over nowhere to go

And I'm not sorry for the things I do
My brain is stuck from shooting glue
I'm not sorry for the things I do
Carbona not glue

Carbona was a spot remover/dry cleaning fluid for home use sold until the 90's, with similar effects to glue when inhaled. The company sued Sire Records to have the song removed from copies of The Ramones "Leave Home" LP. Great song.

I had never heard it until I got the new CDs recently re-released. That song came on and it surprised me.

Really good song. Carbona is obiously stronger than glue, hence the line "Carbona not glue".

This song caused a lot of controversy because kids in Germany were sniffing glue because of the Ramones. That's why it was taken off of the original print of the album. It's awesome we finally got to hear it!

thinking about it it's kinda like if somebody wrote a song about dusting and let's say some kid tht has no idea wht tht is listens to the song and then dies the ppl would be pissed off as well but hey tht's why we live in america and we dn't have to leave under the oppresion of censorshit...

Except that it was in America that it was originally censored. Besides we have nothing but censorship in the US. Have you listened to radio lately? Tell Don Imus or Howard Stern or who is it, Opie and Anthony, that there is no censorship here. On TV you can see actual medical procedures like surgery with all the blood and guts or you can see simulations of murders and rapes, but you can't see half a nipple or the word "shit" on TV.

"Carbona Not Glue" was written by the entire band as a joke on the controversy in England over the song "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue." Originally on the Leave Home LP, the song was replaced by "Babysitter" in the UK (and "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" in the USA) when Sire Records' UK distributor Phonogram refused to sell the album in England because of the drug reference.
