I'm glad that you're near
And I'm sad that you're here.
That is what it's like to be me.
I'm glad that you're here
And I'm sad that you're near.
This is what it's like to die alone.

This all hurts so much
That I honestly believe
You're the one this is hard for.
I'm bartered tact for wit
And I've already made up
A billion stories about you.

Knee deep in static
I hear you breaking up,
I'm breaking up,
I guess we're breaking up.
You're not the other woman
You're just another (woman).
Another hobby for a guy like me.

You're given me a heart like a gun
And I'm so shocked that I've made it through these billion days.
I didn't think I could tough it out all those days a billion.

So we're growing?
I'm sure.
"There's no other I can turn to,
There's no other I can turn to
If not you, heart
Who else can I believe?"

I hope you enjoy dying alone.

General Comment:i never realy thought about one eight becoming two zeros as a split up, i thought that was pretty clever....i just thought of it as like, when you look a different way at something, you can figure out a lot more, i.e. turning an eight on its side so it looks like two zeroes: you actually get the full picture.

General Comment:The sole reason why I enjoy this song. Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence showed alot of anger that results from a failed relationship, this is the only song that differs from that. I remember the first girl I went out with that I absolutely adored and thought I loved very much, but when she told me she'd rather be friends, I just couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Of course I was mad, but I was still very confused and I always felt that this was the weakest song on the album, until I was in the same situation that When One Eight Becomes Two Zeros stressed. I mean everyone knows that bad relationships bring out the ugly in people, but finally there is a song that conveys the utter confusion you get when the person you really thought you'd be with forever just decides to call it off, and as much as I praise Worship and Tribute, Everything was truly the blueprint of failed love. The only other album that really brings out the darkside of love that Everything did has to be Reggie and the Full Effect's new album Songs Not to Get Married To, but I have a huge dislike for the band.

General Comment:all the vocals being spaced out in the first few lines of the song, then the:
    "Knee deep in static
    I hear you breaking up,
    we're breaking up,
    I guess we're breaking up."

all of it jsut reminds me of a phone conversation thats getting "static" and one person says to the other "i think im breaking up" not sure exactly what it has to do with the song really. Maybe just how quick she broke up with him and there was nothing he can do. Like with increasing static on the phone. She obviously broke his heart for no reason

General Comment:I think this song is about Daryl not wanting to admit that he's sad that his girlfriend is leaving. He says that she means nothing to him, she's just another hobby for him. But actually I think his very sad. But instead of crying, or at least showing her that he's sad, he goes out tells stories about her.
And when he hears she's breaking up he's quick to say that he's actually breaking up. He's later regretted this, and therefore he wrote this song....well that's what i think...amazing song by the way
