    General Comment:I think it could possibly be a dedication to the special someone whilst there are maybe going through a rocky patch - hence the title - also the section that goes:

    "Why, somebody?,
    Why do people break up,
    and turn around and make up?
    I just can't see.
    You'd never do that to me
    (would you baby)?"

    That question is almost looking for reassurance. Its the sort of song you'd play to someone just as / before / after a marriage proposal.

    General Comment:This song makes me feel so damn good. I would attend church just to have the chance to sing this and get that inspirational feeling, even though I'm agnostic and wouldn't normally care about the service itself. That's what Al Green does to you :-)
