I'll Stick Around Lyrics
I thought I knew all it took to bother you
every word I said was true that you'll see how could it be I'm the only one who sees your rehearsed insanity I still refuse all the methods you've abused it's all right if you're confused let me be I've been around all the pawns you've gagged and bound they'll come back and knock you down and i'll be free I've taken all and I've endured one day it all will fade I'm sure I don't owe you anything I had no other hand in your ever desperate plan it returns and when it lands words are due I should've known we were better off alone I looked in and I was shown you were too I've taken all and I've endured one day it all will fade I'm sure I don't owe you anything I'll stick around and learn from all that came from it |

Anyway... This song in my opinion is wicked, and prolly the best song on their first album. ;)

FWIW, Foo Fighter songs have no deliberate intent behind them. Dave has said so in interviews. It's merely what the song means to the listener, largely through the experiences of your life.

Anyway, I think the hypothesis about it being about Courtney Love getting what's coming around is a great assertion.

... Oh, and I don't like Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit either, so don't even try to start tossing that on me.

For fucking god sake try to understand!
I didn't say that i like Nirvana because it's influential! all i said was a reply to that bastard(Jakebert ) who said: Nirvana is influential because the singer is dead.
So what about The Doors?! is it influential because Jim Morrison is dead?!
Or The Beatles?! is it influential because John is dead?!
and you hydrogen!
I'm amused by you too! u know why?! because you think that you understand music! if you really listened to music because it sound good, you wouldn't say that "Queen sounds like ass and Nirvana had about 1.5 good songs."
... Oh, and you don't deserve more that Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit!
FUCK YOU ALL!

That was for the Queen comment. ^^
Now that I have that off my chest, I just wanted to throw in here that it is so Goddamn annoying going through each and every Foo Fighters song on this site and finding nothing but "Kurt this" and "Courtney that"... "Nirvana this" and "Hole that." Dave Grohl has a past that he shares part of with those two individuals, for better or for worse.
With that said, Foo Fighters has not a fucking thing to do with either of them. Ever. Foo is Chris, Nate, Taylor, and Dave's fucking band. They are not a Nirvana sideshow, and it irks me greatly to constantly see the infectious idiocy that seems to have hold of at least half of you... their supposed fans. Why would fans relegate one of their favorite bands to such a status? I can't figure this one out for the life of me.
Just, seriously... get a clue. I'd mention the one Foo song that probably has anything to do with not just Kurt, but Krist, as well, but then I'd sound just like the rest of you bafoons.

Dave is so talented. He was (and still is) probably the best drummer ever, and he doesn't mind getting behind the drums every now and then to do the drumming for the songs himself! Way to go Dave. Keep up the good work :)

in terms of meaning though, ive started to take to this song more personally recently after being dumped by my girlfriend.to me its a bit of a 'war cry'. like 'fuck you you can knock me down but im just going to get back up again'. also contains a lyric which means a lot to me in terms of learning from past mistakes in life (in my case, all the things i did wrong to end up getting dumped after 2.5 years), with "I'll stick around, I'll stick around, learn from all that came from it". which to me basically says I seem really down and depressed right now like I'm never going to recover, but don't you worry, I'll be back (I'll stick around) and whats more I'm going to come back a better person (learn from all that came from it).
Thats how I apply the song to myself these days anyway, and since some people have said dave says the songs are for your own interpetations, it works for me. However, it was my favourite foo song before i tried to work out any meanings anyway.

also probably a reaction to her claiming the rights to nirvana's songs, too.
