I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street.

Now did you read the news today
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
Burning into the night.

Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

Superman where are you now
Everything's gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, men of power
Are losing control by the hour.

This is the time
This is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go round
Tell me why, this is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

I remember long ago
When the sun was shining
The stars were bright
All through the night
And the sound of your laughter
As I held you tight
So long ago

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know, we'll never keep.

Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for.

This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to.

General Comment:This song talks about the political power of the government and how they make it"the land of confusion". Song is a warning to those in power

General Comment:Although the video features a rather-addled Reagan, the song itself has little to do with Reagan. The narrator is simply saying that we've got a lot of problems and is hinting at the population crisis. One of the problems is that there's "not enough love to go around". He then says "my generation will set it right" and fix the problems.

As for Reagan, he didn't cause the Berlin wall to fall. The Soviet empire was collapsing. Gorbachev knew that, and he was working to reform it from within. What Reagan did that was right was to recognize that Gorbachev was different from the others.

General Comment:It's just an general anti-war song if you think about it.

War has always existed and will always exist. It's a sad fact of life.

General Comment:"If we all took advice from Genesis, the USSR, East Germany, Romania, and 10 other countries would still be under the bootheel of communism. The freedom to play any music they want, and make millions of dollars, come from the men and countries brave enough to stand up for that freedom."

Really JayCeezy? Do you really believe this song/video was intended to "slag" President Reagan, rather than point out that our "Superman" could not cure the world of all its ills by himself? If anything, it is a call for the current generation to step up. Out of touch with good intentions may have been the message regarding Reagan, but not as the cause of the problems at the time.

P.S. The USSR would not be under the bootheel today, that was the state that controlled it. Russia is what you were meaning to refer to.

My Opinion:Ironic the thought that this 1986 song would slag Reagan, when the rest of the world was rolling over to the USSR and Eastern Bloc countries. Ronald Reagan was the only one demanding that the USSR "tear down this wall!" in 1987 and it happened in 1989. All the other European countries were wringing their hands, not wanting to upset anyone (never mind the totalitarian governments of Communist Eastern Bloc countries).

If we all took advice from Genesis, the USSR, East Germany, Romania, and 10 other countries would still be under the bootheel of communism. The freedom to play any music they want, and make millions of dollars, come from the men and countries brave enough to stand up for that freedom.

General Comment:------------- Probably THE song that best sums up Baby Boomers during the Reagan era. Boomers in their thirties attempting to relive their rebellious, idealistic youth and make the world a better place while listening to Genesis and Phil Collins. "The Land of Confusion" is the fear that we would have ended up in a nuclear winter as the Soviets do battle with the Gipper. I wonder how that went.

General Comment:wow, I just found out that this was a cover! It was weird because this song is relevant to the present even though it was written a wile ago, and I though it sounded alot like a classic Disturbed song! I was wrong, still a great song, translated perfectly to Disturbed!

General Comment:The least God sounding song on the album, but still fits the God / religion theme of the whole album. "Superman" = God

The whole world is going to crap and God's doing nothing about it.

Still believe I am full of crap? Go to the next track, where it finally gets CLEAR. The songs after this one are the ones that give away the whole agenda!! :)
