We were at a party
His ear lobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster

We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster

Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam

Down, down

Underneath the waves
Mermaids wavin'
Wavin' to mermen
Wavin' sea fans
Sea horses sailin'
Dolphins wailin'

Red snappers snappin'
Clam shells clappin'
Muscles flexin'
Flippers flippin'

Down, down

Let's rock!

Boys in bikinis
Girls on surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'

Twistin' 'round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun

Put on your noseguard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter

Here comes a stingray
There goes a manta-ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dogfish
Chased by a catfish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that piranha
There goes a narwhale
HERE COMES A BIKINI WHALE!

My Opinion:It seems that the purple is an important color in psychedelic music. And it is so also for the variations of purple and
the purple objects. In the classical song "a whiter shade of pale" by the Procol Harum, the color purple is invoked with
the word "fandango", and the song talks about a strange party and a following nightmare in the sea. Also in the amazing
song "rock lobster" there is a strange party and a citation for the same color, obviously the "lobster", and finally there
is also another nightmare in the sea. Substantially, the contents of these different songs are very similar.
Why ? Because the two songs were about the effects of something that was purple and could shake minds like the waves of
the sea.To know more, I suggest a web search about "Augustus Owsley Stanley III".

General Comment:this is a song about love and loss.
it has deep meaning to it.
it goes way deeper, beyond comprehension.
the part when it says "His ear lobe fell in the deep" could possibley have something to with the immigration to malaysia from hong kong.
thats some deep shit , right there.

keep up the beautiful and soulful lyrics.

    B52'S OWN!!!

    peace.

General Comment:Why is everyone trying to find a meaning in this song?
    There is none!
I'm studying music at the moment and we're on the 80's right now. The 80's had a lot of joke songs that meant nothing. This is one of them.
It has no meaning, its just a bit of fun.
    There you go, mystery solved.
Love the song myself. Great song to just go nuts to. :P
