Lyrics for Feeling Good (Nina Simone cover) as interpreted by 3ssence

Feeling Good (Nina Simone cover) Lyrics
birds flying high
you know how i feel
sun in the sky
you know how i feel
reeds drifting on by
you know how i feel
its a new dawn
its a new day
its a new life

for me
and i'm feeling good
fish in the sea
you know how i feel
river running free
you know how i feel
blossom in the trees
you know how i feel
its a new dawn
its a new day
its a new life
for me
and i'm feeling good
dragonflies out in the sun
you know what I mean, don't you know
butterflies all having fun
you know what I mean
sleep in peace when the day is done
it's an old world, it's a new world
it's a bold world
for me
stars when you shine
you know how i feel
said i'll be fine
you know how i feel
oh freedom is mine
and i know how i feel
its a new dawn i
its a new day
its a new life
for me
ooh
feeling good
ooh feeling good

I think this is a cover version but I don't know who did the original version. Matt Bellamy decided to record this song because he wanted a song on Origin of Symmetry to be about giving someone love without wanting anything in return.

The build of this song was done incredibly well. It gets you so high, emotionally, then just drops off again. So so very well-done, musically.

I saw the add. It's not terrible, it's a magerine add, where there are two guys kissing and smooching with a chick in bed (they are all naked) and then she stands up and goes to the fridge and takes the magerine and holds it to her face....

ppl in germany (the males) find it disgusting that she favours the magerine to the guys, and so on... but listening to the song, it says "it's a ne day it's a new dawn ...." so it could be that when she stands up time has already gone by and they men are sleeping and she going to the fridge afterwards......

but germans dont understand english that well, so off cousre they dont understand.

i was very happy to hear muse there, coz they arent famous yet, and i always sing along everytime i hera it on TV!!!!

One of the few songs where the cover version is better than the original. I love it! (The originals very different: It's not bad, really, but its big band music, not really my style)

Matt covered this because its his mum's favourite song. And the cover's way better than the original. Much more bombastic, I love it! :)

Matt sings "I'm feeling good", but it doesn't sound like he's feeling good. It could be a contradiction. But depressing singing is kind of Matt's trademark. Emotional too. :)

This song is a celebration of survival. Bad times are gone and now there's a whole new life ahead, it's like spring after winter. There is melancoly but lots of hope and freedom, so it's a very positive song, i guess!

urm.... does anyone else think that this song could be coming from a kind of ironic angle? i don't know is ironic is the right word, but thew tone and atmosphere around this song is definately not "feeling good". kinda like what thecomaboy said.

I was named after Nina Simone (My names Simone....) because the original version of this is also my Mums favourite song. She was appauled to hear some-one covering it... But now loves this song.. It's a brilliant cover.

Best cover EVER, and that's an understatement. Just like NickDogg said, I love the way it builds you up emotionally and then plummets you back to Earth again. This song leaves me speechless. It's far better than Nina Simone's version.

Yeah this must be the only cover that beats the original by far. There is something sinister about the way it is being sung and thats what makes it so much better than the original. But if you think about it then there is something wrong about feeling so good when there is alot of shit going on in the world.

I agree with all of he above. When I hear the other version it just reminds me how much better the cover is. Its like a totally different song. And not to conform or anything but Muse are the best.......well next to radiohead.

I definitely see it's about a guy starting again, turning over a new leaf, but maybe - judging by the line not mentioned here "freer than you" (at the end) - in a malicious way. Either he has only thought about others before and it brought him little satisfaction personally so now he aims only to please himself, or he sees his fresh start as making himself better than others. There's certainly an ironic side, as MunkyMan said.

Also, the fact he keeps referring to how nature 'knows how he feels' makes it seem that he thinks he is as important and high and mighty as these things. The song at first seems to be hopeful but the subtext is malicious. In a way the song makes him seem really powerful in his arrogance and the music helps this.

responding to evilsheep. Concerning covers. I must admit the man who sold the world by david bowie covered by nirvana is a pretty amazing cover too. I'll never get sick of that or feeling good.

I always thought Muse's cover of this song was extremely sarcastic. I think theres a little bit of maliciousness in this song. I don't think this song is actually about generally feeling good?
