Your golden lies feed my role
In this forgotten space race under my control
Who's returned from the dead?
Who remains?

You know I don't want you
and I never did
I don't want you
and I never will

You wanted more than I was worth
And you think I was scared
And you needed proof
Who really cares anymore?
Who restrains?

You know I don't love you
and I never did
I don't want you
and I never will

My Interpretation:Definitely Anti-Religious, Think, The book Hyper Space, was about defining things in mathematical terms, sense, and logic. Thus, the "golden lies" told of by religion would be proven false. The " forgotten space race" is referring to the space in his brain, hwich is under his control and can be filled with what he believes. "Who's returned from the dead?" is mocking religion stating that now proof has been found. "Who remains?" continues the taunt by say everyone, everyone still remains here. This trend continues on throughout the rest of the song. I feel that this is the meaning of the song. Soley to describe the troubles faced by atheists, and how everyone hates them for not believing, a completely human choice.

Song Meaning:i am christian and dont think this song has anything to do with religion!! Matt stated himself that this is a book that he read called "Hyper Space". This book (stated himself!) is about how all of the laws of nature and physics combine in the 10th dimension in pure math to form one main theme. Not really sure what it means but you have your own interpretation of it. All I know. But if you look at it in one way it CAN be anti- religious.. the problem is that no one knows because muse didnt really say what it was about they just said where they "got there inspiration from".

General Comment:This is what a lying coward plays repeatedly as the finish line nears. It's what he'll be playing solo long after I've lost my hearing and moved on in my life. And I will move on in my life; I cannot wait until freedom arrives!

General Comment:I think the song is about a relation between two people, the singer is the weaker one in this relation .

The other one who used to tell lies to intemdate, controle and feed his Arrogant self,
and maybe he believes in deep that this weak young smart little one is much better than him .

and with time the weak one became conscious, beleved in him self destroyed the spineless and he relized teh lies this big wrong thing he believe in, maybe religion .
(The religion that the 'older geanration or the big guy' is hiding behind)
ofc this relation depends on the differences the weak one with logic ...
the strong one with feelings ...
you can link this song to other songs by the same band :

My Interpretation:I wonder if this song is about Britain's special relationship with the USA?

"Your Golden lies feed my role" could be a reference to America's manipulation of information to force the hand of the British Government.

"You wanted more than I was worth" Britain just to help the USA get oil

"You think I was scared, and you needed proof" Bullying the British Govt into doing the American govts dirty work perhaps?

"Who really cares anymore, who restrains," may be a reference to 1984, where people don't seem to care about what's happening to them and don't resist it, and could be linking that to the apathy about politics despite there's a lot of corruption going on.

Of course the "I don't want you, and I never did" could refer to anything, but it makes sense to be Bellamy saying he didn't want the "special relationship" and perhaps changing it to "I don't love you" could be a joke about it being a relationship.

    Just my thoughts, awesome song.

General Comment:i'm probably wrong, but i always hear "your golden LIES feed my role" oh well, it's a great song anyway. i think it's about a gf who used the hell out of him and when she finally leaves, he pours salt into the wound by saying he never wanted her in the first place

General Comment:I completely agree with Ferahgo, with one small adjustment: I think it is about someone who has been raised believing in a religion and begins to question it.
Having been fed "golden lies" all their life, they now feel a sense of revelation in being free and can spit in God's face (essentially). They may even realise that they never really believed it all in the first place ("I don't love you, and I never did") and this song is the ultimate 'severing ties' song.
Also, after "Who remains?" and "Who restrains?", the segue to the chorus (sounds like ch. ch. ch. ch. ch. ch.) actually says "Just to spit it in your face!" So, one could interpret that as the release of all the unease and tension abotu rejecting religion over the years; now it is a joyful experience.

General Comment:It's such a strong, angry song that at first I heard 'When you wanted more, whore, than I was worth'. Lol, weird.
