I've taken the obvious route with this song-it's about suicide or @ least a teenage girl attempting it and most religions it is a sin to commit suicide. But in my own personal experience I met a woman who as as teeanger had a fight with her mother and was in a car wreck. Well she'd woke up in the hospital and unplug herself-all of her O2 and IV. Causing permanant brain damage. She is a for lack of a better word a vegetable. So I think the part "as she passed away on a summer's day,birds were singing in the summer sky"...refers to the girl suriving her suicide attempt in a vegetative state and eventually years later passing on...
