Looking around the house
Hidden behind the window and the door
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home

Well, maybe I'm just too sure
Or maybe I'm just too frightened by the sound of it
Pieces of note fall down, but the letter said

[Chorus:]
Aha, it was good
Living with you, aha, it was good
Ah-ah-ah-ah-aha it was good
Living with you, aha, it was good
Ah-ah-ah, good good good

Sitting around the house
Watching the sun trace the shadow on the floor
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'll call or I'll write you a letter
Now maybe we'll see on the fourth of July
But I'm not too sure, and I'm not too proud
Well I'm not sure, and I'm not too proud to say

[Chorus: x2]

Yeah, you were so good
Yeah, you were so good
Yeah, that's right

My Interpretation:Doubt it's a dead body because of "call or write you a letter".

To me, it sounds like someone coming home to find that their lover is gone. Their farewell letter said it was good living with them.

The person who lives at the house is lonely and looking for signs of the liveliness that the presence of the old lover used to bring, but all is quiet.

They're insecure about contacting the flown lover, but if they did, they would not be too proud to say it was good living with them.

If the flown lover had loved the singer enough, they wouldn't have left. If the singer didn't love the flown lover too much, the singer wouldn't miss them so much

So, this is probably about realizing way too late that you actually were in love with someone you let get away.

General Comment:I'm pretty sure the song is about the character/singer finding a suicide note in the house and he's
to check. Hence the "I'm not to proud" because he's leaving because he know's what he'll find, a body.

General Comment: Reminds me of this girl I was dating this summer for a short period. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, but like all good things it had to come to an end. No regrets between either party. To me I got nothin else to say but shrug, smile and say "it was good".

No regrets, nothin else left to say.

General Comment:Who really gives a shit if that section was "Isn't" or "Idn't"? Does it really make THAT big of a difference in the meaning of the song? By the way, the simplicity of the bass line in this song is pretty sweet, and very catchy as well. It's so very simple, but it really makes the song. IMO anyway.

General Comment:Actually I apologize that WAS the wrong lyrics. They are actually "uh-huh, isn't this good living with you." It gets misconstrued all the time because he says "isn't" like "idn't" if that makes since. So once again hideandseek I hate to break it to YOU.

Listen to the song and you'll hear it. The lyrics on this page are wrong.

General Comment:I hate to break it to a lot of you but the actual lyric is "uh huh, isn't it good living with you". I, for years, thought it was "it was good living with you", but its not. Just give the song another listen and you'll see.
