Looking around the house
Hidden behind the window and the door
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'm just too sure
Or maybe I'm just too frightened by the sound of it
Pieces of note fall down, but the letter said
[Chorus:]
Aha, it was good
Living with you, aha, it was good
Ah-ah-ah-ah-aha it was good
Living with you, aha, it was good
Ah-ah-ah, good good good
Sitting around the house
Watching the sun trace the shadow on the floor
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'll call or I'll write you a letter
Now maybe we'll see on the fourth of July
But I'm not too sure, and I'm not too proud
Well I'm not sure, and I'm not too proud to say
[Chorus: x2]
Yeah, you were so good
Yeah, you were so good
Yeah, that's right
Hidden behind the window and the door
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'm just too sure
Or maybe I'm just too frightened by the sound of it
Pieces of note fall down, but the letter said
[Chorus:]
Aha, it was good
Living with you, aha, it was good
Ah-ah-ah-ah-aha it was good
Living with you, aha, it was good
Ah-ah-ah, good good good
Sitting around the house
Watching the sun trace the shadow on the floor
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'll call or I'll write you a letter
Now maybe we'll see on the fourth of July
But I'm not too sure, and I'm not too proud
Well I'm not sure, and I'm not too proud to say
[Chorus: x2]
Yeah, you were so good
Yeah, you were so good
Yeah, that's right

To me, it sounds like someone coming home to find that their lover is gone. Their farewell letter said it was good living with them.
The person who lives at the house is lonely and looking for signs of the liveliness that the presence of the old lover used to bring, but all is quiet.
They're insecure about contacting the flown lover, but if they did, they would not be too proud to say it was good living with them.
If the flown lover had loved the singer enough, they wouldn't have left. If the singer didn't love the flown lover too much, the singer wouldn't miss them so much
So, this is probably about realizing way too late that you actually were in love with someone you let get away.
to check. Hence the "I'm not to proud" because he's leaving because he know's what he'll find, a body.
it's my favorite at the moment(:
No regrets, nothin else left to say.
