Link it to the world
Link it to yourself
Stretch it like a birth squeeze
The love for what you hide
The bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born
When you've seen, seen
Too much too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Hopeless time to roam
The distance to your home
Fades away to nowhere
How much are you worth
You can't come down to earth
You're swelling up, you're unstoppable
'Cause you've seen, seen
Too much too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Destroy the spineless
Show show me it's real
Wasting our last chance
To come away
Just break the silence
'Cause I'm drifting away
Away from you

Yeah link it to the world
Link it to yourself
Stretch it like it's a birth squeeze
And the love for what you hide
And the bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born
When you've seen, seen
Too much too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Destroy the spineless
Show me it's real
Wasting their last chance
To come away
Just break the silence
'Cause I'm drifting away
Away from you
Oh, oh, woah

General Comment:My favorite Muse song! My favorite part is the chorus. My theory about it is pretty far out, so bear with me.

It's romantic, see. Bellamy and his girlfriend are in bed, and they have just conceived what will become their first child. In a burst of passion, Bellamy demands to know that his future child is as strong as the love between him and his girlfriend. If the child is healthy and strong, it shall become a 'New Born.' He does not want to lose his chance to 'come away' with his girlfriend, giving up a life free from burden, for an unfit child or an anemic love life. So Bellamy wants to test what will become the 'New Born,' urging his girlfriend 'destroy the spineless' to "show [him] it's real."

The above might seem confusing to those of you still in the process of learning about the birds and the bees. So I'll leave some of this to the imagination. But Bellamy calls for his girlfriend to 'break the silence' (read: orgasm) in a powerful way. Now, for a medical side note, sex during pregnancy is actually safe for a healthily implanted child, so horny couples really have no reason to worry here. But this is why I like this song and think it's HOT (-:

General Comment:I think its about war and how the innocent people caught up in it are always the ones who are pushed around and bullied the most. They're fed up and Matt's giving them a voice. He's basically voicing their fear and their anger and their suffering.

Of course, I could be wrong. That's been known to happen on rare occasions.

My Interpretation:WELLLL! this song is aweesoommmeeee OHHHH :D
actually i seriously thought this was about God
"the bitterness inside/is growing like a newborn" i thought that meant how like God was getting fed up with humanity and how you know...we're all assholes now -_-
"when you've seen too much too young" like how God has always been here n existing and he's seen alot of craziness from the start
"the distance to your home fades away to nowhere" heaaveennn??far in the skyyy to nowhere??? "you can't come down to earth.your swelling up your unstoppable" He is unstoppable
"destroy the spineless show me its real" i thought they were like trying to tell God to prove to them he's real and that he's there "just break the silence cuz i'm drifting away from you" although i've heard that matt's atheist, i thought he was requesting God to reveal himself because he's getting rid of the small belief that He could be real and he's drifting away from him....i dont think the last part made sense but hey.i think its about God yo!

My Interpretation:I think New Born is about how the new generations are born in a world where they see everything too soon, where they're corrupted earlier... It's about how easily and quickly you lose your innocence and peace in this modern world, and how modern people is full of stress and hate. That's what it tells me.

This is my favorite Muse song ever. There are times I get a certain Muse song stuck in my head for days or even weeks, but New Born always drags my heart and ears back to it; it will always hold the "favorite" title.
I love everything in it, the desperate and hateful lyrics, the beautiful piano intro, the chaotic guitar, the agitating drums, the insane riffs, deep bass, the yelling, the slightly psychotic fading outro. LOVE IT. I always get hyper when I listen to it, and almost fainted when I heard it live. And I'm not easy to impress...

General Comment:Oh dear. People, the song is about Internet pornography. Another person commented on plug in baby saying that song was about porn, but then someone else piped up and said this song was about it. So I went and read the lyrics again and I totally agree with that person.

General Comment:I think it's about a being in a relationship but also wanting to be with someone else. Someone you never thought you could be with but suddenly you find yourself realizing that you do. But you're committed to someone else and you try to deny and burry your feelings but the anger and resentment of it all is building up inside. I think its more about an inner struggle and fighting with what is right and what you want.

General Comment:I think, to explain the chorus it slightly is about confusion.

So, it starts of calm, with piano before breaking into loud guitar. Which is a pretty confused state if you ask me.

'Destroy the spineless' - Those who don't stick up for themselves ect. will be crushed/die
'Show me it's real' - That you can't trust anybody without proof
'Wasting our last chance' - This theory only really works with the next line. That when you get a chance to leave, you throw it away and stay
'To come away' - as abovr
'Just break the silence' - That no-one knows whats happening anymore, scared into silence
'cause I'm drifting away' - I'm getting lost in people
'Away from you' - And I'm not getting lost in you.

General Comment:I think it could be about abortion... "destroy the spineless." in the beginning when it "iink it to the world, link it to yourself" it could mean fertilizing the eggs in the womb. "too young, young." could also mean abortion.

General Comment:In an interview, Matt Bellamy stated that if the song were to have a strong meaning, it would be the concept that humans have become so ruled by technology and civilization, conquered by machines and metal. New Born is supposed to be about that "that urge, that NEED to return to a more physical relationship with the world. You know, that could be sexual, too...". This song is beautiful, doens't even need a meaning.
