Lyrics for A Hard Day's Night as interpreted by Ice

A Hard Day's Night Lyrics
It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right

You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
You're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan
Because when I get you alone
You know I feel okay

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right

You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
You're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan
Because when I get you alone
You know I feel okay

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right

The title was taken from a statement Ringo made while filming the movie. He was walking out of the studio after a long day of filming and said, "It's been a hard day.....day is night." after he looked up and noticed it was night time. It is a perfect title song for this wonderful movie.

This was a great song by the Beatles taken from Ringo even though he didn't mean it. Too bad Terry Bradshaw had to get the lyrics wrong at the super bowl. Man he's stupid.

The Beatles early music wasn't nearly as good as their later music.

I agree with IanoDublin...I like the Beatles from 67-70. In the earlier years I think most of there songs sounded alike...

This song is okee I gues...not one of the better ones.

This song was one of first and one that climbed the charts quickly. I do agree with others that belive that the beatles had better material in the later years. But we have to understand that in the beginning they were told what to sing and what not to sing, you know what was popular at that time.

I still think this song was pretty good.

I have the 1967-1970 collection. I don't care about the earlier years. They stink. It's just dippy late 50s/early 60s pop. Sorry, but yeah. That's the way it is.

I like songs a lot when they have people arguing here over the meaning. The more poppy music gets, the thinner the lyrics and you can just tell exactly what they mean by reading them. Songs like I am The Walrus, while that is just some trippy ramblings, who knows, it might mean a lot. I write very deep when I've just been baking. So how many pop stars have you heard of doing any sort of drugs, even alcohol?

This song is great even though its not very deep. Songs don't have to be meanigful to sound really good - i like the fact that it's simply about how seeing his partner again after a hard day at work makes everything alrite again :)

their early stuff is awesome...i would argue that this album is just as good as Sgt. Pepper...it just doesn't hav a song like "A Day In The Life" on it...but it's just one great song after another...one word comes to mind when i hear "i've just seen a face"(on help, actually) or "i'll be back" and that word is WOW

your right the 62-66 Beatles were more pop than rock. That is why I only listen to the 67-70 songs.

hey dudes, the lyrics may have been deeper from 67-70, but dont u ever get in the mood to hear a great song that even a beginner can play on guitar. these songs are actually quite good. i dont wanna get anybodys undies in a bunch, tho, so i will add that i do love the later stuff as well. any real beatles fan will never overlook any of their stuff

also, a funny fact is that john had a habit of writing down ringo's malapropisms, and after a while, he added them to his book, in his own write

I think it's funny that nobody seems to have even mentioned the meaning of the song. It's about spending all night having sex, unless I am mistaken.
It's a great song. Although I do prefer their later work, I have yet to hear a Beatles song I didn't like.

This movie and this song is what got me into the Beatles. I have to say that I like all their music. I like the poppy 50s & 60s -ish stuff as well as the later years. It's a band that has always been good and you can see them grow over the years musically. I don't think their early stuff was crap at all.

NOT ONE OF THEIR BETTER SONGS??? this is a classic song that everyone knows. how can you say the early beatles arent as good, its a different era. The reason they werent political early is because pop was popular. a great song

I'm in my 50s and see what you all say about their earlier music, compared to theirlater music. Grante if the Beatles had not evolved from the earlier music to the later, thay would have been left at the way side. If you listen to their ealier music it had a mixture of rock a lot of rock, so hint of country in their songs, not only country blues also. The earlier music if you really listen to it, they were coming out with songs on thier albums that to me deserved more recongnition that she loves, saw her standing there, please please me. Every critic from that era mentions rhe Beatles having a big hint of country sound in a few of their songs, I don't want to spoil the party, is one song strongly mentioned by critics and us non critics alike that song was compose with a strong country sound to it, the critics even later when country/southern Rock came out claim T don't want to spoil the party, as the prelude to these bands coming out then. The Beatles were influenced by country, Blues, and elvis, and other some fairly known, to some not well known at all. Even the Rolling Stones admit this also that country, and blues played a big part in their styles of music. The Stones are big fans of Waylon Jennings. Then again waylon Jennings was one of the crickets, Buddy Holly's group. It was Waylon who gave up his seat on the plane that killed Buddy Holly, Big Bobber, and sorry bad memory here(The character lou diamon Philips play in La bama.) Don't be so quick to dismiss the beatles earlier songs, the song "One after 909, Off the let it be album, was actually written in 1959. Songs like I'm Falling, and many others give a strong sense of what the Beatles had inside them. The big changes with albums Revolver, Rubber Soul, Sgt peppers, showed they were heading towards magical Mystery Tour, The Beatles album with no nmae just Beatles where they are standing on the steps of some building, songs paper back wrioter, Lady Modda on it, thos Albums showed they were Moving or evolving in a direction, to this day I think if had they stayed together would have produced some great song writing, and composing, and arrangments, that I believe would have put Sgt peppers, white album, abbey Road, let it be, on a level just below what I feel they could have acheived. John showed that he could see the foolishness of some of the people in the 60s, like the Maharaji not sure of the spelling saw him as a joke. When they wrote dear prudence, the sister of twiggy, was to say hey get out side here, have a life you have become blinded by this mans foolishness, all she did was stay inside as so many others comsummed with amazement of this supposed religious type man. They were saying get out, see the world not just his, whether to this day or not, not sure what became of her. Yes george stuck with the Harkrisna beliefs, John and paul did not. John reraaly lets it out with his song Working class hero, again not sure of last part of the title. Hard days night was written in one night by John and paul for the movie, the producers asked them if they could come up with a title song to go with the movie. No acid or lil hidden messages were in the song. John even mentioned ion an interview we could write songs about nothing, and the Fans would buy it, look for claim their are hidden drug references and hidden messages in their songs. Sure you can tell some songs are and were written no so much about drugs but to be listen to when doing drugs, acid. a day in the life part had to do with a friend of Johns who died in a car accident. The worst song if you even want to call it a song was revolution#9, the other members did not want it in the white album, they figured John because of drugs was thinging it was going to be something so unique, to me it lessed the great writing and sings of the White Album. But we all make mistakes, acid makes you think everything sounds great, that you feel good liuke, think your mind is becoming so opened and gaining great knownledge, when all it did was when you came off it showed how dumb or foolish you were to take something and thing it was great while on drugs, should be great on an album, here john F"d up badly.

Wow the early stuff has great melody/harmony and is even more complicated to play then the later stuff. The early stuff is just as revolutionary to music as the later stuff.

I think that the Beatles did have some great stuff towards the end of their career, but they had some good stuff in the beginning too. I think it's pretty creative making a song from Ringo's line that he said coming out of the studio when he said "It's been a hard day...'s night!" when he realized it's night, not day... also, the Beatles were innovative in the beggining too... the chord in the beginning of the song I think, was not a chord used to enter a song normally. They played very 50s and 60s pop, but they added their own special style. Watch the anthology, Paul explains it really well!
