Lyrics for Asche Zu Asche (english) as interpreted by John M

Asche Zu Asche (english) Lyrics
Warm body / hot cross
False judgement / cold grave
On the cross i am lying now
They pound the nails in to me
The fire cleanses my soul
And remaining is a mouthfull of ashes

Ashes to ashes
Ashes to ashes
Ashes to ashes
Ashes to ashes
and dust to dust

I'll return / in ten days
As your shadow / and i shall chase you
Secretly i'll ressurect
and you will beg for mercy
Then i'll kneel in your face
And put my finger in to the ashes

Ashes to ashes
Ashes to ashes
Ashes to ashes
and dust to dust (4x)

i love it when they play this song on the LAB dvd, how they are singing into the flaming mic's is really good... i think its about someone being crucified like jesus and coming back in 10 days, but as an evil incarceration... anyone else got any ideas?

I think its just Rammstein being Rammstein.... this was on Herzeleid which is Rammsteins first Album so possibly their artistic ability wasnt fully developed. But I do like the song, maybe in an opposite it is INCREDIBLY artistic and its metaphorical meanings go very deep.

this is one of my favorite songs...i LOVE the opening drums... i think the deep meaning might be that they knew somehow that people , especially the media, would take things out of context, and that in the end, the group would show them that they(the media) are wrong

it sounds like a very twisted version of the ressurection story, only instead of forgiveness, the other person is totally screwed

if i had to pin a meaning on it, id say this song could be about the use of the death penalty. Say someone got sentanced to death but they were innocent. In the spiritual sense, the people who made the decision to execute that person would get whats coming to them

I'm not a big fan of this one, personally. It sounds like what the Crazy Motorcycle Chase theme from FFVII would've turned out like if it had been made to accompany the Rob Liefeld comic in which Jesus takes on the Greek gods.

Jesus came back in 3 days.

I think that this is definetly a twisted tale of the resurrection. It's defiently one of my favorite songs of all time!

This song makes me think of that movie, The Crow. This song would have been perfect on that soundtrack.

I think it mixes a bit of the witch burning and the crucifixion, perhaps an old story that they decided to retell. Diffidently has a ominous air to it.

this song just screams "anti-christ" to me.

the church find him, crucify and burn his corpse on the cross. he then returns in 10 days for his reckoning. nice little story behind it all.

saw a shirt that once said, "if jesus came back to life, we'd crucify him again", though it hasn't anything to do with the song, maybe it's pointing out how forgiving christ is, and what if he were more, (this is a bad example) pagan, more you give me crap, and i'll shove it back...the ashes seems to fit the human condition, born into a insane wonderland, and end in dust, nothing to nothing...

surely it is about rage, and it just makes me think of "the crow", maybe revenge. Probably there is no deeper meaning. As I think that most should not be interpreted too far...

me thinks the song is just a general methaphor for revenge. nothing to do with christ or resurrection or the like, the first part is just the guy being falsely accused and 'nailed to the cross and burned' which is just accused and convicted (by the society perhaps). all that remains is a mouthfull of ashes. the bitter taste for revenge
from there on, the second part is pretty self-explanatory, no actual resurrection but just coming back and serving the cold dish of revenge
