Punk IS: a band who doesn't care about anything, does their own thing, and doesn't give two shits about the consequences.
Punk IS NOT: a band who whines about how the government is picking on them, and tries to sway people to believe their political views. Or a band that takes their band seriously. (Because true punks don't care either way)

To me this song sounds like an angry angst filled teenager from middle class suburbia who just wants to do their own thing yet is to simple to realize that being a selfish asshole hardly qualifies as doing your own thing. If anything that would be a variation of conforming to self focused social standards within our society. I really hope that this song is not what it means to be a teenager whoever said that.
Why is it that people cant get past base expression as a means to be an individual. Do some real free thinking, aimless "rebellion" doesn't do shit. This song is completely childish and vain.
And Sum 41 is not a punk band, at best they are a rock band and at the worst they are a pop punk (which is a horrible oxymoron.) At the same time debating what is punk isn't very punk either I guess.
