  General Comment:yeah, this song is really important to me, too. i live in va and my bf lives in ca. we've been going out for almost 2 years, but we didn't get to visit each other until a year and a half into the relationship, and now he's back in ca again. we're both in college so it's hard to find the money to fly to visit each other, but we're planning for winter break! so yeah, i know how long-distance relationships can be...this is a total anthem. And I faced skeptics as well... a lot of people don't seem to get how you can love somebody based on what they have to say rather than physical contact...that's too bad.

    I am responding to a very old post you made and I don't know that you will even receive it. Or if you are still in the same relationship you had written about. I just wanted to say I completely understand what your saying. Especially about the skeptics. I find myself in this very same situation. I fell in love with a man I had never seen face to face. I live in Oregon and he is in New York. We were about 4 months into our relationship before we were ever in the same room together and we are once again, on opposite coastlines, but hopefully soon to change.
    There is lot to be said for starting a relationship based solely on a person's character instead of factoring in any physical aspects. You learn so much more about who they are as a person and you truly are friends before it progresses to the next level. I've discovered that makes for a pretty solid foundation. We have been together for almost a year and a half and even though he is 3000 miles away, it feels like he is just around the corner or in the next room. As if it wouldn't be a shock if he walked into the room. It's the strangest feeling and I can't explain it any better than that. Far to often, people jump into a sexual relationship without really getting to know the person they have just slept with. There is a great deal of intimacy in the written and spoken word. People tend to be more relaxed taking their clothes off, as opposed to letting someone into that very private place we all have within us, where we guard our deepest darkest secrets, our insecurities and fears. Our looks are temporary and will only fade in time but who we are on the inside, remains with us our entire lives and in the end, this is all we will have left. I believe we are wise to pay much more attention to the contents as opposed to the packaging.

  General Comment:I am in love with this song. This guy and I have liked each other since we were 15, we are 19 now and he joined the marines a year ago but just got shipped out to Japan a month and a half ago for 2 years. We didn't talk for awhile and then when we saw each other 4 days before he left, our feelings were stronger for each other. We made out right before he left but said that nothing could come out of it because he's leaving for 2 years. He told me that he can't ask me to wait for him but I am waiting for him anyways. I just got out of a really bad relationship and the marine is such a nice guy so I will wait. He told me that when he gets back he will treat me how I deserve to be treated. I heard this song on the radio yesterday and I haven't heard it in so many years. I started crying. This part definitely breaks my heart:

  General Comment:This song means a lot to me because the guy I like (who is also my friend) and I are graduating so this reminds me of that plus I don't get to spend much time with him or get to talk to him much. I think this song is about waiting for someone no matter what it takes and no matter how far away they are.
