I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

that is not the meaning of the song. this song is a letter to Cynthia Rhodes from Richard Marx right before they got married in 1989. she was in south africa and he was here in the states, so he sent her a track of this song saying that he'd be here waiting for her.
This is a song that reminds me of long distance relationships. Hopefully for someone out there, they can work out. When I first heard this song I had met a guy on holiday living in the South of England, where I live in the North. It can break your heart to be apart for so long, but all it takes is the one you love to know that they're waiting for you.
