Eating snow flakes with plastic forks
And a paper plate of course, you think of everything
Short love with a long divorce
And a couple of kids of course

They don't mean anything
Live in trailers with no class
Goddamn I hope I can pass high school (means nothing)
Taking heartache with hard work
Goddamn I am such a jerk, I can't do anything

And I shout that you're all fakes
And you should have seen the look on your face
And I guess that's what it takes
When comparing your bellyaches
And it's been a long time

Which agrees with this watch of mine
And I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry
if I dissed you

General Comment:I'm sorry, for what it's worth....but don't depend on me, I'm trailer trash - it's bound to go wrong. Let's just quit while we're ahead because in the end, it'll be nothing but another tally mark on a long list of heartache.

General Comment:It's about heartaches and heartbreaks, and always feeling like the asshole in the end but not wanting to live up to it.... just blaming it on the fact that you're/or always felt like "trailer trash"....which never amounts to anything anyway. Sucking up your pride: "and I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry if I dissed you." Such an insincerely sincere apology, because Fuckkkk it hurts, but I guess I have no one to blame but myself, because I'm trash and will fuck it all up in the end anyway...always seem to. In the end, that mother fucker has your heart when no one actually should.

General Comment:this is suchh a great song not just lyrically but the actual music too. although i cant relate to this the description is so strong that his life seems almost relatable.

i think the snow flakes dont just represent free food they are unsubstantial. from afar they are magical and when you actually get close they dissolve into nothing.
"short love with a long divorce
and a couple of kids, of course,
    they don't mean anything"
the "of course" seems sarcastic as well. some parents get divorced and do so much damage by not thinking about their kids which i think he relates to.
"I hope I can pass high school means nothing" this like is kinda contradictory he is expressing hope while at the same time saying that it is useless. so many kids only hope to pass high school and he sees that in the bigger picture in the end passing high school still leaves him no where.

i think everyone else is completely right about the rest-- people dont actually have hardships in comparison to what he went through. Although he is angry at his mom for making him grow up in that live style, i think he acknowledges that it was not just hard for him but for her too and it was out of her control

General Comment:okay if this song were to relate to isaac which it most likely does since he wrote it i think it would go like this

    "Eating snowflakes with plastic forks
And a paper plate of course, you think of everything"

    - when you are broke and have no food to put on the table and your struggling to make it as a band and questioning whether thats even the road to take you think of all of the possibilities, you think of everyone who says your crazy for even trying and everything they tell you that your bound to ammount to. you think of all the consequences of the risk your taking.

"Short love with a long divorce
And a couple of kids, of course
    They don't mean anything
Live in trailers with no class
Goddamn, I hope I can pass high school. . . means nothing"

    - the first 4 lines are all what he sees could be his future, and then he snaps back to the present and says "goddamn, i hope i can pass high school . . . means nothing" isaac was still in high school when the band got together and released Long Drive. 17 i believe. but those things are minute and still mean nothing because . . .

    "taking heartache with hard work
Goddamn, I am such a jerk, I can't do anything
And I shout that you're all fakes
And you should have seen the look on your face
And I guess that's what it takes
    When comparing your bellyaches"

    - all of the pressure of his downfalls compared to his hard work makes him feel like he will never make it, he is agreeing with what everyone has told him he would amount to, nothing. but instead of folding under it all he tells everyone that ever said he wouldn't make it that their fake because comparing their problems(bellyaches) to his having no money but doing what you love is so worth it. nothing in life matters unless your striving to do what you truely love.

"And it's been a long time
Which agrees with this watch of mine
And I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry
    If I dissed you"

    - this song is on lonesome crowded west, the band was formed in 93 and only released an album 3 years later in 96 with This is a long drive and between that and Lonesome there were 3 ep's. So yes it has been quite some time since he has had to hear all of the people back home telling him that he wasn't going to make it, and he realizes that home is home and nothing can change that and he misses home after being away for so long and he is sorry that he told everyone to go to hell because they helped drive his love for what he does that much more, hes proved them wrong but he didn't mean to hurt any feelings when he told them to screw and thats that.

General Comment:Oh, and each line somehow relates to us: "Eating snowflakes with plastic forks" reminds me of eating fried dough with confectioner sugar at the fair. "Short love with a long divorce and a couple of kids of course" is my cousin and his ex-wife and their son. "Goddamn, I hope I can pass high school," well that's me (and my mom who dropped out). "And I guess I miss you, I'm sorry if I dissed you," is the inevitable feeling of guilt I get when I yell at them all. I love them I suppose...:)

General Comment:I love the line, "And I shout that you're all fakes, and you should have seen the look on your face," because it makes me think of my family and how goddamn judgemental they are. You should have heard them make fun of the "white trash" and "screw-ups" at our town's Cherry Festival last week. I just wanted to scream because they shouldn't be talking. We're just a bunch of people that could easily be talked about the same way and they don't seem to realize it.

General Comment:Isaac Brock is sing about his messed up childhood. His mother left his father for his uncle and then their house flooded and his mom had to move in with his uncle but there was no room for him...(sad), he lived in the upstiar room of there flood house till he was kick out by the police then he lived in the basement of a friends whos I'm not sure. Then he built "the Shack" on some land next to his mother trailer and that is where Isaac,Jeremiah,Eric first played together. so yeah I think he's singing about a little part of his life.
