This is an amazing song, and will always to be special to me cos it was playing when me and my girlfriend got together. We were at the Reading festival last year and went to see them. We have been best friends for ages but id always liked her more. All the other people we were with went to see someone else, so we went together. It was getting quite cold so i put my arm round her just as this song was starting. Idont know if it was the atmosphere, the song or what but we looked at each other and it all fell into place. So this song will always mean a lot to me, and i owe a big thank you to the pixies, cos without them we might not have ever gotten together.

Sorry if that was a bit cheesey but i think it shows the poer that a song can have.

this song makes me not want to care about anything, people all getting worked up about things..when listening to this song it makes me realise they just need to chill the fuck out

I only heard this song about 2 months ago, since then i've listened to their wave of mutilation compilation and i also like 'monkey's gone to heaven'.

the funny thing is, i heard the opening riff to 'where is my mind' in another song first. End of fashion had used the same opening riff in their then recent single "Oh yeah", so when i finally listened to 'where is my mind' i was like WTF?!! but this song kicks more ass!!

now everytime i hear that intro i get excited, then anxious because it never turns out to be the pixies song..
so DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

As I was watching Veronica Mars, I realized this song was in the episode Drivers Ed... When I heard it, I immediately recognised it as "that song from fight club"
I hunted down the song and figured out what it was

Now its stuck in my head...
Such a good song...

Wow, this has to be the best Pixies song. Yes, I know, it was in Fight Club (Great movie, by the way). I love the background singing "ooooo" during the verses. It gives it a dark feel, especially at the end, where the music stops and all you hear is that last holler. It sends chills down my spine. One of my favorite songs ever, by the way.

I herd this in fight club, of course. It was one of the best sounding things I have ever listened to..I just now found it agian and with the band name (I found it on some trippy flash video...which pretty much goes with the meaning) And well...I think I'll be checking out more of this band they seem really good...

Oh, and to the people who are bashing fight club: Your fucking stupid, just because someone found this song somewhere other than a radio(I personally refuse to listen to the radio, because most of the music played on it sucks) or the internet doesn't mean anything. It was a great movie, this song fit perfectly. If you don't like the movie, it was either too complicated for you, or you stick to a certain genre or style of movies.

I love this song. It's the first Pixies song I ever heard (and, for the record, it wasn't in "Fight Club." It was on an honest-to-God mixtape from a good friend) and I love it.

It tends to feel to me like the peace that someone would feel if they were left off of Noah's Ark.

well, my mum picked up a pixies cd in a bargain box somehow for £3. and me and my brother have this thing, like whenever you get a new cd you have to listen to track 7 first. And we did, and it just happened to be where is my mind!! and so, this song is the theme of my mum, and it settles all our arguments-ie my mum puts it on full blast and then we all start shouting along and by the end of the song all we want is to listen to it again!!

i think this song is about your head being "drowed" by thoughts, and then "waking up" and realising that you arnt who you thought you are.

thus i think it goes well at the end of the movie Fight Club, as it is, basicly, the makority of the plot of the film reproduced throught the midium of music.

i love this song soooooooooooo much!!! i discovered it after reading somwhere that people were mad at end of fashion for stealing the riffie thingie... so i looked it up and fell in love with it!!! now i love the pixies!! why did they have to split up??? why did i have to be born in the wrong generation?? anyhoo... i see it as this. it doesn't really have a meaning, just getting lost in yourself and daydreaming.... i feel so mellow whenever i here it.... it's just a song that makes you feel good, even if it is about drugs... i just love it sooo much!! i also love placebo's version.... hell good...

This song is gold...amazingly powerful guitar progression...and the ambient wail is simply awesome...gives it an eerie type of feeling. It's an uplifting song...yet kind of sad in tone. I love it!

It has a stream of conciousness feel to it, unpretentious it is what it is, I imagine it is up for interpretation, symbolically and figuratively, when I fall in love it seems to be part of the soundtrack, something hypnotic indeed I agree, the bridge is one of a kind

Black has definitely modified these lyrics from time to time when performing this song live. Recently, it sounds like:

"except for one little fish
but he told me, swear he was
trying to talk to me, wait wait wait"

As in, 'Whoa, did that fish just say something to me, or am I going insane?'

Saw them live a couple of day ago. Was right up the front in the mosh. They are sooo good. This song just sets you ina trane when they play live. Listening over and over to this song.
