Lyrics for Where Is My Mind? as interpreted by numb

Where Is My Mind? Lyrics
Oooh - stop

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?

Way out in the water
See it swimming

I was swimming in the Caribbean
Animals were hiding behind the rocks
Except the little fish
But they told me, he swears
Trying to talk to me, to me, to me

Where is my mind?
Way out in the water
See it swimming?

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?

Ooh
With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Ooh
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Ooh
Ooh

For all you bashing those who are mentioning Fight Club - shut the fuck up. Be happy, grateful in fact, that their music is more popular now due to the movie. I'd be stoked if one of my favorite bands was featured prominently in a movie like this song was...and furthermore, a little more welcoming to those who are starting to listen to the band.

Granted, people are commenting a lot on this one song - but one leads to others, and I'm sure albums will be bought.

Quit being elitist pricks and just be happy the Pixies are a little more popular.

...That said, the song just emanates confusion and insanity, whether by way of drugs, or just the way the speaker's living life in general. "With your feet on the air, and your head on the ground."...awesome.

And yes, the ending to Fight Club is probably my favorite ending of any movie.

pink_nico: eh, I suppose it's just contrasting opinions. I thought the quality was terrible. I remember being excited to get it because I loved this song but being disapointed after listening to it.

this is my favorite song by the pixies, and theyre my favorite indie band
if you hav ever heard the white stripes (im obsessed) song called 'little acorns', i think this is kind of a similar meaning
sometimes you just hav to live life relaxed
except this is about sending out ur imagination and live life that way-in a creative way
therefore not only being an individual in society, but looking life a different way so sometime it will be easier, more fun, etc

Sarajevo, I don't know which Surfer Rosa album you're referring too, but my copy is one of the best albums ever recorded.

"Where is my mind" is my personal favorite, but also the most easily accessible as probably the softest song on the album. Perhaps raw energy isn't your thing, but that doesn't make the album terrible. It makes it brilliant.

Great song but I'm sorry...anyone who listens to 'Sufer Rosa' will realize that this song is byfar their best on the album. Every other song, to put it nicely, is awful. The quality is terrible and the music itself is even more terrible.

Fight Club was a good movie. Maybe when we grow up and realize that that the "f*ck the establishment" attitude is getting cliche and worn out. Grow up.

I also heard this song in the movie Fight Club and fell in love with it. When the buildings collapse in unison with the guitar riff. That scene is just great and that song just fit. "Where is my mind?"

i jus wanna say something bout the pixies...(since this is the most popular song and most commented so every1 can see). true pixies did influence nirvana alot but i jus dont like how everyone ties the pixies to them such as in rolling stones greatest albums and doolittle and surfer rosa are jus given descriptions of "kurt cobain this...he taht"...why can't it be "the pixies: creator of all music that is good?" (this song kills!!!)

I, because of personal experiences, can relate to this song. It's about a time when you were so fucked up on drugs, that you have absolutely no ego and can't even communicate. Looking back on it, you have the question that is never answered: Where was my mind? Where was I during that experience, because I obviously wasn't THERE. That refers to the refrain. I think the verses are just experiences on drugs. Great song.

I was at a friends house, around the turn of the millenium, it was raining and we were stoned (in fact, everytime we went over there, we were always stoned.) We were watching the end of Fight Club and I thought to myself, "I am so bloody stoned out of my head, I don't know where my mind is or whether Tyler Durden was actually who he was or whether the director put in this song to really show myself how stoned I was.

I don't know where I was.

The elitism that develops on boards like these is really quite amusing.
Who cares if certain people only discovered this song, and in turn the Pixies, through 'Fight Club'?
Maybe they wouldn't have heard of the Pixies at all if not for the film, I say if it made the Pixies accessible to certain people, then that's great. It'll maybe encourage them to go explore the band more.

Man, that arrogant stuff is just so nineties hehe! I used to be so "like you don't deserve to like them" with all the bands I liked, but who cares how people end up liking The Pixies? Everyone who likes them rocks! From someone who was given a mix tape of surfer rosa and come on pilgrim in 1988 and wishes they had come to Aus.

You Fight Club fans are gay. Log into Siskel and Ekbert or something. Decent flick but what the hell does it have to do with one of the best songs ever. This was written like 12 years before the movie came out.
