Lyrics for Where Is My Mind? as interpreted by numb

Where Is My Mind? Lyrics
Oooh - stop

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?

Way out in the water
See it swimming

I was swimming in the Caribbean
Animals were hiding behind the rocks
Except the little fish
But they told me, he swears
Trying to talk to me, to me, to me

Where is my mind?
Way out in the water
See it swimming?

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Your head will collapse
When there's nothing in it
And you'll ask yourself

Where is my mind?

Ooh
With your feet in the air and your head on the ground
Ooh
Try this trick and spin it, yeah
Ooh
Ooh

I had a dream this morning about this song. A woman drove by me playing it in her car and i started to run and sing with it, and I eventually started to float. It was amazing. Anyway.

It was so great seeing Kim sing the background vocals for this song. Her voice was so powerful and she was putting so much into it that you could see all this spit flying into the air from the back of her throat and reflecting all the stage lights. It was holy.

I got Kim's pick at the end of the show. On one side it says "Kim Deal" and on the other is a "P" in the font that's used on the cover of Trompe Le Monde. I am definitely framing it.

Here's my story: Found "Where is my mind?" as I was looking for Sparta songs (before their first record came out). I heard the song, thought it was one of the most moving songs I've ever heard. I immediately noticed that this cannot be a band rooting in at the drive-in. (Also considering recording techniques and quality). I listened to that single song for about two years but never did any research on whom it came from. Thus I didn't know any other Pixies songs at that time, although I had heard the name numeous times before.
Last summer I went to Hurricane Festival in Germany, and I believe it was Modest Mouse, who where playing simultaneously. I was watching their show as I heard "Where is my mind" within the breaks of MM, blown over by the wind from the main stage. I could not believe it. I ran over there and sang along. As you can imagine with Where is my mind? the concert was almost over. But I was shaking, with the live performance putting the experience at an even higher level. Afterwards I asked somebody and found out it was the Pixies. I did some research, and bought the available cds. One week later I travelled to Denmark to Roskilde festival, near Copenhagen. And guess what, the Pixies were on the list of bands. I went and watched some crappy concert in order to get a front row position. It was awesome. Not sharing my appreciation
my friends, who had joined me, left after a couple of songs, without me even noticing until the concert was over. Afterwards I found out about what huge impact the Pixies had on the a lot of bands of the nineties. If you listen to the Pixies for a while, it becomes obvious,
so you don't even have to read about it. So whenever Where is my mind or any other Pixies song comes on in a club, I pour my drink, spilling it all over my shirt, and enter the floor. Damn baby, this band will always rock.

sorry about the spelling mistakes, for a foreigner it shouldn't be too bad. plus, as I was writing this, I was mentally going through this breath-taking concert experience once again. by the way, where is my mind?

I had Doolittle before Fight Club came out, and bought Surfer Rosa soon after that, and this is still by far my favorite song of theirs (which is saying a hell of a lot)

Charles wrote this after going SCUBA diving. My interpretation is about being blown away by the experience of diving to the point that you feel you don't know anything... your head is empty, because you just got blown away by the other world you knew nothing about. With your feet in the air, try spinning your way into recreational diving, like Charles, it will "blow you away".

whta is it with the talking fish? 'All Over the World' goes: "we can't even speak, fish all of them speak all over the world" ! obviously must have been a frequent hallucination...!

This is about the feeling you get when you realize everything that matters about you is floating gently out to sea, and all you can do is ask the world how it happened. The reason it was in Fight Club was that that was what Tyler Durden was all about: letting go of yourself and just letting yourself exist at a primal, survivalist level. That's why the guy can talk to the fish- he's on their level, he is a fish, swimming around and existing and just being. But think of the contents of a goldfish's mind. Hardly better than being a corporate drone, isn't it?

I hadn't bothered seeing Fight Club because a teacher had ruined the big 'shocker' in class just after the movie came out. Years later, I caught the end of the french dubbed version of the flick while flipping through the channels on TV, and was completely blown away by the song.

When I looked online to see who had done the song, I saw that their anthlogy had just been released. I bought it right away and loved every single track on it (well, maybe not alec eiffel or planet of sound).
